If Emmit were to sign, then the Cards would have 5 tailbacks:

Emmit-Starter with bulk of carries
M. Shipp-Share of the game load
D. Anderson-Back-up
T. Jones-M.I.A.-trade bait-June 1 cut
J Scobey-fast, unproven

I liked what I saw out of Anderson when he started that game last year. Jones was solid in the Seattle game, but non-existant for most of his career.

What will happen to at least two of these five?

Thanks, I forgot about Travis.

So that makes 6 tailbacks we will have under contract if Emmit signs.

Is that normal for an NFL team?(No need to inject stock Cardinal joke here)

Only Shipp is a sure thing. The biggest trap we could fall into would be not to to make a move to upgrade RB (whether that be to sign Emmitt, McGahey or Ron Dayne) because Anderson, TJ, Scobey and Prentice "show a lot of promise." We should bring in the best players we can and then let everyone duke it out and prove on the field who's better.

If we were to trade any of them right now.... assuming we sign Emmitt.... I would trade T Jones and/or T Prentice..... for picks or to move up on our current picks if there is someone we really want in the draft

One has to be trade bait......I figure we keep Smith, shipp, Anderson, and Scobey.... and move T prentice to practice squad.... Trade T Jones for Pick or move up one of our picks

Why would you want to take up valuable space on the practice squad with Prentice? He's already been bounced off three teams; I seriously doubt he will get much better.

I would let Prentice, Scobey, and Anderson compete for the 3rd spot, but would only sign Scobey or Anderson to the PS, and would release the 3rd runner up.

As far as TJ goes, either he will be traded or cut, but I highly doubt he figures into any roster plans.

Nobody will trade for a RB who will be a free agent in four months when we cut him and who wouldn't start on their team anyway.

I could see trading TJ & our #1 to the Texans to move up to #3 from #6 if we think Suggs will be there.... Helps both teams and the Texans still get their guy at #6

Why trade for him when you know AZ will cut him June 1st? There'd be AT LEAST a second rounder also, Jones would be a toss in salary dump move. By himself, he has no value.

Also, Texans are leaning towards Suggs IMO. They said if Colvin didn't sign with them Suggs would be their #1 target.

I think I posted this in another tread but don't remeber to well... I think we trade TJ for Seau. Boston and TJ were freinds and he will tell SD that TJ is only bad becouse of the Cards and he was a #6 pick(I think???). I say lets give them TJ for Seau I am down for that.

i can't say it enough. tj has no value. starter in houston? c'mon, get real. he couldn't beat out jonathan wells. just because he was a first rounder at one time doesn't mean that he has legit talent. he's been beaten out three years in a row. no one thinks he has enough upside to trade a valuable commodity for him. someone might take a flyer on him if he's cut, but that's it. maybe he'd rate a 6th or 7th, but he ain't nettin' the cards seau, nor is he worth moving down in the draft for other teams (chicago or houston). face it, the cards blew this pick so badly they can't recoup a thing from it. it happens. clyde duncan ring-a-ding-ding a bell anyone? WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I think TJ has upside and trade value...and no I don't believe he lost the starting job three years running. He was never really healthy...that should be the knock on him. Respatory problems, ankles and such...but to say he was beaten out is just false. To say he couldn't go week in and week out would be accurate..but then neither could SHipp or Pittman. I do not feel the club should give away any assets. They are thin enough at RB as it is. While Shipp has shown promise...he is far from being a surefire quality back in the NFL. BUt unless we sign Emmitt to sell tickets SHipp will be our go to guy if he stays healthy. But then we might try and get Larry Johnson at 9 if we trade down.

So let's reverse rolls. Let's say TJ isn't on our roster, what would you want the Cards to give up via trade to get him?

Let's say we don't have Shipp but have either A-train or Wells, now what would you give up to get TJ.

Let's say the Panthers had TJ on their team. Would you take the 9th pick and TJ for our 6th pick.

I would be incredibly suprised if anyone said yes to any of these scenarios. So who is going to be the brave soul and say they would give up this much for TJ to be on the Cards?

I would give up a #3 for him. OR if there was a player on my roster that I needed to replace ,then I would take TJ and that player . A team with Wells as there runner would probably jump at the chance to drop three spots and get TJ..but there would have to also be a 3rd rounder thrown in. I say this because if I am on the clock at #6 and Larry Johnson is the best back I can get then I would rather trade to 9 get TJ and a #3 and plug another area of need probably at Dt or Cb. Better Depth for my team....I guess I am the brave soul...

Yes very brave indeed. Wouldn't have your GM job to long but definitely brave.

Re-sign KLass and then include him in the trade.

Something to think about is that the Chargers would take just about anything for Junior at this point, because after June 1 they going to lose him anyway and get zilch. But they would probably prefer a lower draft choice than TJ to save money. I agree that TJ has no trade value at this point because of his high salary that would go along with him. However, there might be interest in him if he is cut after June 1 because a team could negotiate with him for the vet minimum. And the same could be the situation with Junior. Trade for him now for a low draft choice and assume his current contract with no competition, or wait until after June 1 and pay him what the market will bear but have competition from other teams.
