Suppose Thomas is gone and AP is there. We will most certainly take him. I would assume then in a year we would trade edge or dump him anyways. Why not a first for him now instead of a 2nd or 3rd a year from now.

Also - Regarding Kemp's rumor, don't you detect the faint aroma of PFT?

For what it's worth, Kemp doesn't believe it, either. The rumor originated in the Buffalo press, and it's been making the rounds. Kemp was asked about it in an interview with a Pittsburgh station.

Ain't going to happen and I don't want that trade to take place. The Edge had a great year behind a line that until the last 5 games didn't know left from right. I am of the notion that we should trade down if we can 2-3 spots take Levi and ad picks. I would be thrilled if we took Thomas if he is there. The only sure thing in this years draft that of the top 7 picks they will all go in 7 picks, by who I don't know. When we pick if AP is there I say find a team that is willing to give up thier picks for him.

Wouldn't Edge's accelerated cap hit destroy the cap? It was my understanding they are up against their limit after those bonus payouts. What was Edge's signing bonus because it will accelerate 3 of the 4 years signing bonus hit to this year. Anyone have that number?

Nevermind. Joe's cap spreadsheet says 1.75 million in bonus and 5.25 mil base salary. Accelerate all 3 remaining bonus to charge (1.75 X 3) and you get 5.25. The move would neither hurt nor help them in the cap.

This deal won't happen...because the Bills won't offer it.

They want Patrick Willis at #12 and there's a decent chance he will be there. If he isn't, don't be surprised if they take Paul Posluszny there.

The better deal for the Cardinals would be the Bills' 2nd round pick #43 and their 4th rounder, I think it's around #110...that way the Cardinals would have 6 of the top 110 picks, plus they wouldn't have to pay another first round salary.

The Last Word!

I like AP, don't get me wrong, but has he ever had to pick up a blitz? James excells at this as well as catching the ball. He's a vital component of the offense, a team leader and great personality. With the new line coach, a top-flight rookie LT, perhaps the All-Pro guard from Pitt, James gains 1500 yards, catches 40 passes and protects our franchise QB.

No way hosay!

If Thomas is there you pass on him for noone.

Sorry, I know everyone seems ready to pack James's bags for him, but the guy DID rush for 1,100 yards behind an offensive line that was growing as a unit. Add a LT, and see what happens from there.
You guys do realize that by passing on Thomas, even if they DO move down to 12, they've essentially taken themselves out of the running for Thomas AND Levi Brown. At that point Staley's too much of a reach.

Sure, AP's gonna be a good HB.. But not good enough to where I want to see the Cards go in to the season with Oliver Ross as one of the starting tackles. Peterson's a good HB.. Not a miracle worker.

Sorry, I'll pass. Go ahead and add me to the list of those firmly in the "No" category.

I'm firmly in support of James and like him for the next year or two. That said, to have a young AP instead to me makes sense.

Well it does hurt in the fact that instead of having for example only, 50 players at a cost of 100 Mill, you now only have 49 players at a cost of 100 Mill. plus you ahve to pay more money to a #12 pick.

If this trade were to happen I could easily see a trade down from #12 to lessen the blow of another #1 pick.

Pardon me, but what about offensive tackle? It is highly unlikely Levi Brown will see the other side of Houston at #10.

Brown is a horrible pick for their zone blocking scheme and will not be a Texan. He isnt even close to being agile enough to work in their OL. The first thing Houston did last year was not re-sign their bigger OL who were FA, then made the rest lose weight.

A better deal would be to take the #12 then trade down from there into the 20's plus get an extra pick.

You lost me at "Bob Kemp".

LMAO. :lmao: That guy is by far the worst in radio.

By the way, that is a great trade IMO. I know the Cards have searched long and hard for a 1000 yard rusher. However, if you can get a great prospect plus another #1?!?!?!?!?

It's a no brainer trade.

This is a great idea!!!!

Then when AP breaks his collarbone or blows out his AC again, we can start Marcell Shipp for the remainder of the games....

Or .......... you'll be playing Shipp when Edge starts wearing down. I'll take the
younger player (7 years younger)!

If you can trade Edge James for the 12th overall pick in the draft, considering what other RBs have gotten in trade value, you do it immediately and not look back. Even if you take Joe Thomas at 5, trade Edge and take Lynch at 12.

works for me.

No! In terms of future and value, sure that's a fair deal, but James was a horse last year and he broke 1,000 yards behind a line that 99% of the other RBs would have struggled to get 700. James deserves a shot with strong coaching and to run behind a line with some semblance of a blocking scheme.

On the other hand, if James has requested to be traded, sure that's a good trade....
Couldn't have said it better. AP and Edge in the same backfield is like have Fitz and Q lined up at WR together.

AP never blew out his AC.

True, it is his ankle, I am thinking of, sorry. The only real knock on him is he cant seem to stay healthy. I think he is a fantastic prospect, but I dont want Shipp starting 8-10 games a year.
