Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has re-signed free agent middle linebacker MONTY BEISEL to a two-year contract. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Beisel (6-3, 240) appeared in eight games with two starts at middle linebacker last season for the Cardinals after signing as a free agent on November 6, 2006. He collected 14 tackles (12 solos) last year including a team high eight stops in a start at San Francisco in place of the injured Gerald Hayes. He also had one interception, one pass defensed and six special teams tackles. Beisel joined the Cardinals after he was released by the Patriots in their final roster cut on September 1, 2006. In 2005 with New England, Beisel recorded 57 tackles (32 solos), one sack and one forced fumble while starting six regular season games and one playoff contest.

Originally a fourth-round selection by the Chiefs in the 2001 NFL Draft out of Kansas State (107th overall), Beisel has appeared in 78 games with 17 starts in his career collecting 157 tackles (107 solos), 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 69 special teams tackles. The 28-year old Douglass, Kansas native played his first four years in the league with Kansas City until signing with the Patriots as a free agent in 2005.

This is excellent... Beisel played very well in place of Gerald Hayes and he is a top notch special teamer.

Awesome. Loved the way that he played in limited time last year. When Dansby was injured the first part of the year, he should have had more PT.

GREAT!

That is a very good signing for us. It makes me feel much better about our depth at LB.

He backs up Hayes, and SOLB.

He and Milligan were my top two choices to get re-signed. I guess Graves is listening to me after all. Good job Graves!

Just a super signing (as was Milligan, as already mentioned on an earlier post).

I'm very pleased with how the coaching searches, and FA turned out.

I think we will see the benefits of these player additions and re-signings in 2007.

Right on. Valuable depth where we are very weak. We need a starter now and I'll be ok with the LB corp.

Monty was flying everywhere when he got playing time...has a nose for the ball. You can't teach that.

Estatic!

don't care if people disagree with me on this one but Monty has starter abiltiy and I was shocked how well this guy played when he saw playing time. Great re-signing on the Cards behalf.
