Cardinals Re-Sign Linebacker Monty Beisel

Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has re-signed free agent middle linebacker MONTY BEISEL to a two-year contract. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Beisel (6-3, 240) appeared in eight games with two starts at middle linebacker last season for the Cardinals after signing as a free agent on November 6, 2006. He collected 14 tackles (12 solos) last year including a team high eight stops in a start at San Francisco in place of the injured Gerald Hayes. He also had one interception, one pass defensed and six special teams tackles. Beisel joined the Cardinals after he was released by the Patriots in their final roster cut on September 1, 2006. In 2005 with New England, Beisel recorded 57 tackles (32 solos), one sack and one forced fumble while starting six regular season games and one playoff contest.
Originally a fourth-round selection by the Chiefs in the 2001 NFL Draft out of Kansas State (107th overall), Beisel has appeared in 78 games with 17 starts in his career collecting 157 tackles (107 solos), 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 69 special teams tackles. The 28-year old Douglass, Kansas native played his first four years in the league with Kansas City until signing with the Patriots as a free agent in 2005.
