From what I remember just another steamroller FB. Continued transformation into Steelers west.

Don't know anything about him but he is another Pittsburgh guy that Whis is presumably familiar with so this sounds OK to me.

For his career Kreider has 144 rushing yards on 32 carries and 60 receptions, but his main role has been as a blocker for such runners as Jerome Bettis, Willie Parker and Steven Jackson.

I-45 is better.

At what?

Run blocking ? I beg to differ.

Terrell Smith can catch where Kreider cannot.

I'd rather have a young guy but Kreider will do for now. He will help the running game that is for sure.

FB's backs are just about worthless in our O and have little impact. Its a who cares signing to me same as if T . Smith signed.

A human anvil.

Whiz knows him from Pittsburg, probably signed him for he league minimum, and plays special teams.

Meet your new starting FB for the Cardinals.
He does play special teams?

He hasn't recorded a tackle since 2005 and I find it hard to believe that a 32 or 33 year old 250+ pound fullback is much of a special teams standout.

I'd be surprised if he signed for a more than half of what we signed T.Smith to.

I really like Terrelle Smith as a person, but I thought his blocking was a little suspect. As long as Kreider's an upgrade in that facet of his game, I'm good with the signing.

Uh....where do I say that ?

He plays ST not that he is a stand out, or that he does anything more than block on ST.
Ah well you said he plays special teams and I was thinking on the coverage units, which he doesn't. Maybe we were just talking past each other.

Wow, you even put up the quote, actually the rest of the sentence, that invalidates your sarcasm completely:

...but his main role has been as a blocker for such runners as Jerome Bettis, Willie Parker and Steven Jackson.
He's a hard-nosed run-blocking FB, which is just what we need at the position, IMO.

Why? He likely wont even be on the field for 80% or more of the run plays. Much llike T. Smith wasnt last year and the year before.

I'll speculate that, that's one of the reasons they let him go. Maybe Kreider fits into their schemes more and that's what they're planning. I did notice the fullback in there a little more in the playoffs than in the regular season though, so it could be more of a continuing (more regular) trend
