Manish Mehta of the Newark Star-Ledger reports unrestricted free agent kicker Jay Feely has agreed to terms on deal with the Arizona Cardinals, according to a person familiar with the situation. The person requested anonymity because he is not authorized to speak on behalf of either side. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Feely, who spent the past two seasons with the Jets, visited with Arizona last month after Rex Ryan’s club signed free agent Nick Folk.

Not to get all of this going again but if it was down to Feely & Rackers I would have kept Rackers.

I feel like something has to be up with Rackers, most likely his injury, if this is the route we went. Unless he just wanted some absurd amount of money. Or maybe we will sign both?

I have a feeling that Rackers overplayed his hand and tried to get to much money and to long of a contract out of us because he thought we had no choice. Word is that once Janakowski signed his deal Rackers got stars in his eyes. Note that is only a rumor, but I wouldnt doubt it.

Only an idiot would base his demands off a raiders contract

I understand replacing Rackers (misses in the clutch, injuries etc.), but I don't really see Feely as an upgrade.
I do, just the benefit on not seeing Rackers' "oh crap I missed another clutch kick" face is a plus!

Well, there goes my prediction that Rackers would be the most controversial topic on the board next year. :bang:

Here is the thing, I loved Rackers special abilities on kickoffs, but Feely would not have missed that 34 yarder against the packers.

He did miss both 38 and 37 (blocked) yard FGs against the Falcons last season and two kicks in the Afc championship

I think Feely and Rackers have similar percentages. But most of Feely's missed kicks have all been outdoors, where as Rackers was missing field goals indoors.

That could be the difference here.

I am a huge fan of Rackers and hate to see him go as I was with Kurt Warner but I am a bigger fan of the team and love who these guys have become; a team that FA want to play for and one players can't bully or leverage no matter who they are, how well liked they are or how long they have been on the team. I always respected that about the Patriots but we seem to do it with out coming off as arrogant a$$e$ like Bellichick.

Believe it or not this is bittersweet, even for me. I would have liked to see the team bring in a guy like Stover to handle most of the FGs and kept Rackers as a kickoffs specialist and long-range FG kicker. I agree with joe though, that Rackers necessitated this. With that said, Feely may not be better, but I'm definitely ready to find out :) The bottom line is that when Rackers came on to win or save a game, I had zero confidence in him and that was nobody's fault but Neil's.

Did Graves even bother to look at any Brazilian soccer players first?
