I took out the trash today :)

All kidding aside, at least we get a decent special teamer. Still need a RB in day 1 though.

Good under the radar type signing.

Many would have liked for the other Wright to be signed but when all is said and done Jason may have a bigger impact with his ability to help on ST's.

And a decent 3rd down back. Used to play WR in college, but he is pretty slow as RB's go.

I stress decent, since he is not going to break a huge play, but he has good hands and supposidly is a good pass blocker.

"But the blitz-pickup specialist still participated in more than 30 percent of the offensive snaps in 2008."

I like the signing.

Heres the question.. Does he actually want to passblock?

I hope he doesnt get too upset when he finds out we only bought him so we can play STs and Solitaire ;)

If he really is a good special teamer I cant complain about the pick-up and I must like it because to me our horrid special teams last year was/is our 2nd biggest need this offseason right behind pass rush/OLB. Now if we could just find someone to help the return game portion of our horrid special teams, since we have worked on the coverage portion with the Wright and Lewis signings but have done nothing in relation to the return game.

This is JJ's replacement not Edge's.

Doesnt need to be Edges replacement for Edge to be let go finally. We just needed more depth, and we were waiting to let him go supposedly because hightower is the only RB on the roster ( I know we have Vincent but lets face it he doesnt really count).

Decent signing, not great or sexy but could be very effective. If all else fails he's very cheap and wouldn't hurt at all if he didn't make it through camp. Overall though sounds like a decent guy to take a shot at. He doesn't change draft strategy at all but he's a low risk signing with some upside.

Wright + draft + Hightower = no Edge. I like this signing and although it was completely off my radar, it's what I was expecting from Whis/Graves. The Cardinals are committed to their passing pieces so RB isn't going to be a big name/money in '09. Wright has showed some ability with a terrible Browns team and I wouldn't be surprised if he worked his way into the offense.

He signed here because he likes the "best players play" mantra and I think he wants to play. He's committed to becoming the best special teams player in the league right now but that's how Terrel Davis got his start. I don't think Whis would be looking at a guy that was content with being only on special teams.

Great signing!! You guys will love this kid, and according to interviews I have seen his goal is to be the best special teamer in the league. That tells me he understands the role he'll play and will not rock the boat is Hightower and a rookie RB are splitting the main carries. While Wright is nice, we still lack a legit starter IMO. As much as I like Hightower, he didn't show me much in the starting role, but was a spark off the bench/short yardage. He either needs to take a big leap from the offseason program or we still have one heck of a hole to fill.

One thing all the reports about him say is that he has a great team attitude. I think he has the heart to do the best he can at any role given to him.

Good attitude, Good ST'r, Good at picking up the blitz, Good hands out of the Backfield, This guy seems to fill a number of needs for us. Good pickup.

maybe he just wanted to play for a team that didn't tackle its own teammates :)

I'm not completely sold on Hightower as an every down back either, but do you really think he had an opportunity last year? Every game Hightower started the Cardinals ran almost exclusively out of the shotgun where every carry the guy got was a draw/delay type play, which always came at a very predictable time. That stretch of games was terribly coached/game planned in my opinion. I would really like to see Hightower run more traditional running plays to see what we really have with him.

exactly. I don't see how people could see those games and come to the conclusion that Hightower is no good. The only game where he was given a real shot was the Rams game, and we all saw how that worked.

interesting -- of the four signings this offseason, three of them pertain almost exclusively to special teams-- new long snapper, Keith Lewis and now Wright

I had read somewhere that one of the reasons for Hodel getting let go was that coaches were happy with snaps, but wanted an upgrade in coverage from the position
