Welp, that kills a lot of my motivation to watch it. Not that Gabbert was doing much but I feel Drew is a waste of time. I imagine he is gone next year and he brings nothing to the table.

I posted this in another thread about Keim and Arians:

"The only fireable offense they committed is evaluating Blaine Gabbert while they still had pulse to make playoffs. Stanton should have started the last 3 games if he was healthy. 75% stanton > 120% Gabbert. Stanton is a good backup QB compared to Gabbert"

The other 52 players should be fuming for evaluating Gabbert while they still had a sliver of hope to make playoffs.

I was kind of hoping they'd put Drew in for that last series of Cardinal downs. (Not so much to make change for change sake, but because Blaine wasn't lighting any fires anyway).

At this point I hate to say but...I really don't care any more. Both options are putrid, rancid, rotten, smelly garbage on the field. And, I don't care if Drew explodes for 400 yards and 4 TDs I will still feel the same.

If they bring either one of those two back....<sigh>...I'll still watch, still love the Cards and hope for next year just like always.

Go Cards!

Don't tell nashmann.

Seriously though, I don't quite care either way here. I like Drew and I suppose I'm happy he's getting another shot at showing he can be a backup somewhere, or (doubtfully) audition for a starting job somewhere. Hopefully this means the Gabbert experiment is pretty much over though.

I wonder what this means about our QB room going forward. Are we going to try to bring back Palmer for a final game?

I don’t think either will be on the roster next season, so it’s a moot point as to who’s QB1. My hope is that Palmer returns and Keim drafts a QB in day 1 or 2.

can we now stop with the Arians has won games with a 3rd string QB!

Gabbert/Stanton... was no difference. Both are interchangeable 2nd/3rd stringers.

I do not think Arians has a choice if he wants to at least try and win with what he has. Maybe Stanton can have one of those rare games all QBs can have because we know Blaine is just getting worse. Now please do not tell me it's because the coaches are responsible for his regression. No offense is going to keep the game plan vanilla for a guy to keep throwing passes center field and rule out close to 70% of the field to work with, while the more information Blaine gets, the more his slow processing of the info is compounded. Again, he understands the plays but cannot act on them while a play is in progress, that is why he will never be a starter. Sure it will be ugly to watch this offense but no coaching staff is going to keep the third string guy in after a litany of quarters without crossing the goal line. I have a feeling Michael is ticked right now and Keim is feeling the heat and passing it on to Arians by his demeanor alone

This means the Cardinals have reached a verdict on Gabbert. It was a 5 game window and now the window is closed.

My brother was at the game yesterday and he said that Keim and Bidwill were standing next to each other on the sidelines and when Larry dropped that last pass, Keim stormed off the field and Bidwill stayed. He said it looked as if the 2 were “having words”.

He got worse the more he played. Yesterday, it was obvious the Skins saw on film he throws low line drives and they really took advantage of that flaw.

BG didn't close the window, it's more like he shattered it completely. Too bad but sometimes the body is perfect but the mental aspect is faulty. A lot of guys look the part but don't play the part on the field. They just don't have as fast a mental process as is needed and I think that's BG's biggest problem. That and his atrocious footwork still after 7 years in the league.

It was a good look and I think the results speak for themselves.

Like Arians but what in the world was he thinking on Logan Thomas, Ryan Lindley and Blaine Gabbert? you don't need to be an NFL coach to know they don't belong in the league. my god

I kind of feel bad for Gabbert. This is his pattern. He infatuates with his skills and then he just can't seem to slow everything down in games, like he id during the pre-season. That's why they call it, the pre-season.

Funny thing about life...as a game of inches. If Niklas makes that catch and the Cardinals punch the TD in, Gabbert gets a reprieve and another chance to prove himself versus the Giants. Instead, Niklas drops that pass, the Cardinals lose...no QB Redemption...and Gabbert is now back in his cell at Shawshank.

Steve Keim was involved in those decisions, as well.
