Why Alphonso Smith? He has done nothing since he has been here...cut ties and grab another 'maybe guy' and start over...

My initial thoughts as well.

With 90 guys to bring into camp, and we are at around 45, I don't think it is that big of a deal.

Why not bring him in ?

That is not good news for Beanie Wells.

Means nothing to Beanie. Powell and Smith won't impact his future with the team.

He'd be worried if the team signs Bush or another top-tier FA RB.

Would tend to corroborate the Reggie Bush rumors (especially when no tom-toms appear to be beating for re-signing LSH). Would also support recent speculation that we might be interested in drafting a thumper like Ball.

If we keep Powell and Smith, we likely get rid of either Wells or Williams, as I don't think we'll carry 4 RBs. I'd bet they stick with the kid over the vet, so yes I do believe these tenders hint at his future with this team, or lack thereof.

They're EFAs, so there are no guarantees they'll stick with the team come opening day. As Rugby said, the team has to get to 90 by training camp and they can be dropped risk-free if a better option comes along between now and then. Typically, there are 5-6 RBs in camp and 3 make the roster.

If there's anyone whose future is in doubt, it's LSH; who directly competed with Powell for KO duties. Again, if you're using EFA tenders as your evidence that current #1 is gone, you're using faulty logic. I agree with you that Beanie's days in AZ are numbered, but when these tenders were announced, that entirely separate issue never crossed my mind. I'm waiting for either a top UFA to be signed, a high draft pick, or Beanie being traded/released before I remotely consider that.

I'm not real familiar with Arians offense but why would Wells not be a good back for Bruce? One of his major negatives is he's a poor receiver but that's not necessary in Arians offense is it? Indy's top two RBs had only 26 receptions combined last season. He's also a big back and is effective in the redzone.

So that leaves his pass blocking, has it gotten any better, and injuries.

It seems to me that Ryan Williams is the RB who doesn't fit.

Of course I doubt the Cards will pay to keep Wells so this probably his last in Arizona.

I'm already considering LSH gone as well.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
This has nothing to do with football but the title said tender...well in my 20s I was a bartender and one place was a pool hall, this old cowboy used to come in everyday around noon and drink all day. So every day I would hear this "Hey Tender...give me a white Russian and make it muddy" so I'd make him his white Russian extra vodka extra Kailua and then as the night went on he started getting hammered he would want less ice and more alcohol ....so just to piss him off and get a laugh I'd fill the whole glass w ice (already had his real one made under the bar) and would hand it to him and he would scream in the biggest cowboy accent "GOD DAMMIT TENDER WHAT THE HE'LL IS THIS, I DIDN'T ORDER A GOD DAMM SNOWCONE!!!!". We would laugh so hard and I'd go here cowboy here's your real drink which really was about 5 shots of vodka 7 shots of Kailua and a splash of milk w 2 ice cubes. On my days off he taught me to play pool...one of the best pool players I've ever seen. Lol but just reading the word tender sent me back down memory lane. You meet a lot of interesting proper working at a bar!
