I wanted Rolen over Glaus in Phoenix once upon a time.

Great trade for STL.

Rolen turned into a cancer on the team, couldn't get healthy, and never came through when they needed him.

Glaus' power will make up for the 5-8 extra errors from Rolen.

I think he's off the juice, so I doubt he has any power left..

I agree... He only hit 20 HR and had just 62 RBI in 115 games last year. I think his numbers are going to continue to fade.

On the other side of it, Rolens power numbers have faded and he hasn't consistantly stayed healthy in years so I really don't think this trade is going to be very significant for either team.

It could work out for the Jays, but I'm worried, defense doesn't win often in the AL.

Baseball Cardinal fan here. I think it is a good deal for both. They needed a change of scenery. At least Rolen did. Glaus is just one of several question marks that have to work out well for the Cards to compete. Look out for SS Brendan Ryan though. I think he may be a rising star.

This will hurt the Cards defensively for the short term and with the pitching staff its gonna hurt.

Cards need to be willing to spend big $$$ to bring in a #1 for the team. I am not happy with the inaction so far.

Trouble is there is no money. Their money is all tied up in current players contracts. I think their salary expense last year was $96 million which isnt bad for a moderate market team. Next year they unload some more salary and will be in a better position. Farm system doesnt look good for starting pitching either.
