I remember Parcells saying that a guy like Testaverde could play until he was 50 as long as they protected him. He was just a pure pocket passer. I would say CP is that type of QB. He'll always be a great spinner of the ball, as long as he can stand upright in the pocket & not have to move around. That being said, CP absolutely could be around through NEXT year. We still need to do something with the position. I still would rather go after a guy like Bradford, who's still relatively young & is super accurate. I guess it depends on whether the Vikings are still sold on Bridgewater. I would rather spend 1st round picks on a proven commodity. Bradford would be a stud in Arian's offense.
my guess is the staff decided to hold off and see which options become available next year... apparently there are as many as 5 top candidates coming out of college next year headed up by Darnold.... then in free agency we may see Cousins, Stafford, and Garrapollo... not sure if Stafford can be tagged, but even so it opens up trade opportunities if he does not sign a long term deal.... lots of options next off season apparently

The Vikes are not picking up his 5th year option.

Sal Paulo on ESPN radio just said he was hearing the Cardinals really really wanted Mahomes or Watson and got jumped on
Meanwhile, Jay Feely and Mike Silver both indicated that AZ never intended on taking either of the QBs.

Believe what you want, but the QB talk from BA and Keim towards the end started to sound embellished and phony.

Did I miss CP announcing that 2017 is his victory tour?

No, but taking a full month to decide if you're going to return to a team where your top receiving option is clearly on his victory lap himself is pretty telling.

Its foolish to think there's anything but the slimmest margin he comes back.

1--You don't draft purely for need. That's stupid, and gets you crappy draft picks.
2--Reddick wasn't even the position of most need. Situational OLB/ILB? Not our biggest need on D.
3--You don't draft someone that isn't an immediate impact starter--that doesn't have a position, and is talked about for sub-packages and special teams--over a NUMBER of immediate impact starters when they are available
4--Unless you are Steve Keim and the Arizona Cardinals, because you're pathologically opposed to doing the easy, smart thing
5-Aargh! :hulk:

This thread proves, at least to me, that Cardinal fans are no different from those of other teams. They just don't understand the draft. It's about helping your team, not entertaining your fanbase. I have no idea about how good Reddick will be, but I do know the draft is an inexact science. He does fill a need and most 'experts' had him ranked about 13, or where he was selected. So I guess we'll find out about him in this Summer and Fall. But no way was his selection, pathetic.

that pick was about having a solid contributor on the defense for years to come... not a flash in the pan who will be out of the league in a few years... helping the team stay competetive

It's an issue to be addressed, but CP taking a month at his age to firmly decide is hardly exceptional. And unless you're his agent or wife and in a position to know, it's "foolish" to assume what he'll do and when.

Things that erupt fairly violently and often. :)

The messed up thing is, I didn't have favorites going in this year. I was so zen entering the draft. I was content with whatever we did, as long as we didn't repeat past mistakes. Well...

LOL

Hey Chris. ***. Shaggy, Iceman, this is the dumb **** that made people leave the board. Letting these hypocritical ***** stay in power on here is beyond asinine. If anyone else had said what that clown just said to me on here, they'd be banned with a quickness. What a joke.

lol... you tell someone to BLOW YOU and then get all uppity when someone else calls you a waste of space? talk about hypocritical.

and by the way... Sanders isn't a moderator anymore.

Yeah, didn't buy it when you said it then and don't buy the Zen thing now. Good on you for trying though.

#13 pick on an ILB is really tough to swallow. Players picked that high at ILB tend to be can't miss prospects like Luke Kuechly and Patrick Willis.

I've come around a bit more after watching his highlights, but that can be dangerous when playing against a soft conference. I do agree he is an ILB in the NFL, too small to play OLB.

Fair enough.

Now if, say, there hadn't been the run on offensive players, and a few WRs were there but those defensive players weren't, I'd be much more lenient on the pick. It'd be clear we wanted defense there, and at that point, Riddick might have been the best bet.

Heck, at least he's got a cool name :)
