I guess the odds makers believe the Lions are better than the Cards (they have bought into the negative hype). Even on a neutraal field they think the Lions are 1 point favorites.

Step one in making everyone except Cards fans look foolish? Beat the everloving snot out of Detroit.

Actually, I think this may be a very close game. I don't think the oddsmakers are very far off, if you think that a home team is usually spotted 3 points.

I would bet (haha) that there is not much action on this game in Vegas.

Spread

The Cards were underdogs for all four preseason games. It's the early (first couple of weeks) games where you can make money betting, before people know how good or bad teams are. I feel that the Cards are a LOCK against the Lions but worry that I feel that way because I'm a fan. We'll see.

I seriously don't understand at all how they can place lines on preseason games.

It's like

substance abuse. There are people out there that will bet on ANYTHING! My question is, how in the world they come up w/these odds. Take the Cards and 4.

The odds makers do not believe the Lions will win. They believe the public believes the Lions will win. Way too much is being put into Mariucci as head coach

Perhaps. Unfortunately, you're forgetting the 12th man in Detroit. See, our stands are not littered with blue (empty seats) like the red polka dots that litter Sun Devil weekly. Ford Field is a loud place. Not quite Silverdome loud, but pretty damned loud.

You're also not remembering that you don't have Starks to cover the rookie who was already drawing double teams in the preseason. Better hope for a pass rush because if it's not there, it'll be a long day.

Fish

the 12th man for every other team is always at SDS, no biggie. Hope your rookie can take a pounding, because that's what he'll get near every time he touches the ball. Last, our pass rush will be just fine, you'd know if you had been watching.

To me home field advantage isnt all its made out to be especially with parity talent wise in the NFL!

We have played without Starks for most of last year and now this year so it is nothing new. During that timeframe we have played the likes of Terrell Owens, Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, and others. All of whom are far better than your Rook. Besides it is a known fact that WRs have some of the hardest time adjusting to the NFL. !st year WRs other than Randy Moss almost NEVER have much of an impact!

We will bring some pass rush by the way! BELIEVE THAT!

point spreads are fun to watch, but I wouldn't bet money guys.

I know its a rush, but gambling on football is for suckers.

except for laying 10 bucks on the cards to win the superbowl of course. :D

I put $25 on the Cards to beat Detroit a month ago when the spread was 5.5

thats cool rivercard

I'm not saying an occasional small wager isn't acceptable.

but, there are a lot of guys that will get to where they are betting $300 on every game. You have to watch it, it is an addictive behavior. and the more you get into it, the more "in depth analysis" of the statistics you do, the more you lose.

The people that pour over the usa today weekly football statistics are exactly the people that the vegas bookies are laying for.
