Unfortunately we won't be the marquee game next Sunday which is perfectly OK. We're the later one but not the marquee one.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14592457/arizona-cardinals-ot-win-green-bay-packers-earns-best-saturday-night-divisional-rating

From the article; emphasis added:
NEW YORK -- The Cardinals' overtime playoff win over the Packers was the highest-rated Saturday prime-time divisional game since the NFL instituted the time slot in 2001.

NBC said Sunday that Arizona's wild 26-20 victory averaged an 18.8 rating and 33 share. The 33.7 million viewers were up 9 percent from last year's Panthers-Seahawks matchup and second for the time slot only to the 34.2 million for Broncos-Patriots in 2012.

OK, am i having reading comprehension problems, or does this article simultaneously say that the game had the highest and second-highest ratings for the timeslot?!?

The game had the highest rating/share, which represents a percentage of all TV viewership at the time. The other game referenced had the total number of viewers, which is a raw number that doesn't take into account other TV programming being watched at the same time.

Ah, yep that makes sense, thanks... still sleep deprived after the game and the trip home i guess! :)

I wonder what else was on at the same time as the Broncos - Patriots game that resulted in that game getting a lower share despite half a million more viewers?!

Yes, I had to read that several times myself. Maybe we need someone in "the industry" to translate. Cheesebeef?? Maybe we are number one now because there are more households and more TVs?
