I just read on twitter the deal was for one year...the salary wasn't mentioned. Was that a mistake?

It's possible there is something else, that was just the number texted from him around lunch. Maybe they worked out a higher 1yr deal....not sure. My buddy sent it to me after "they were done negotiating and he was thinking"

Maybe there was a second offer as well that's just a 1yr deal, but maybe he is only thinking about the 4yr deal. I'll send a message back Mitch asking if he's heard anything about a 1yr deal.

Ya if Schefter is reporting it as a 1yr deal and done, must have just not have sent another text. But I don't know if the Cards would have wanted 30mil+ invested in PP21/Mathieu (eventually)/Prince anyway.

So basically the cards were either never interested (as somers reported) seeing as how he probably would have rather signed a one year deal here or he wasn't actually willing to take any less to play here.

Obviously the Giants feel very strongly that Janoris Jenkins is a much better player and long-term investment than Prince. Weirdly, Jenkins admitted to the press yesterday that he tends to get lazy at the end of games and that he's got to improve in that area. WTF.

Peterson had the same issues for a while.

Jenkins is still an incredible talent. The Giants with DRC, and Jenkins have a nice set of cornerbacks. I have NO idea why they didn't go after Rashad Johnson, he would have been good for what they need in NY.

Still hasn't been announced as final on any of the major outlets than I've seen, other than the the one tweet.

Will be interesting to see what goes down, once anything happens, I'll find out what really happened. I've already sent a text asking about the tweet.

Hey, another constantly-injured defensive back who doesn't make plays on the ball? Sounds good!

In all fairness to Birdman, both AP and Prince were possiblities. AP even mentioned in an interview after the Vikings and him figured it out that he would have loved to play here. If jags balked at Prince and low balled him, then I can honestly say the Cards would have found a way to go get him.

MJ just said that the Cardinals had "zero interest in Prince." He said that was conformed to him from a reliable source, fwiw...citing lack of system fit.

Wonder if it was also because he would have demanded more than what the Cards were willing to offer

lol Cheese, have an actual text discussion between him and someone I've known 25yrs. And all it said was that he wanted to come home and play here, but was going to Jacksonville first to meet with them and then come back here today.

He still hasn't signed there, and I don't quite get MJ's comment he wouldn't fit the system. He's an athletic corner who can tackle, and only played zone in the pros cause that was what the Giants ran. If you watch Nebraska game tape he was in people's faces on the line. You don't draft a guy corner who can't cover 1-on-1 in the first round.

He didn't ever mention the Cards had offered him a deal and walked away from it to go to Jacksonville first. All he did was say he was gonna go to Jax and if they didn't offer him a crazy deal he was gonna come home and try to work out a deal with the Cards to stay home.

So I don't believe there was ever a number that was assigned or discussed.

I enjoyed the AP Wednesday thread immensely even though I didn't want AP to be a Cardinal. I also didn't want Prince because he played on probably the worst D last year that gave up a record number of blown 4th Qtr. leads.

Where I have an issue with these threads is your over optimism of these deals getting done. Your first post (IIRC) was that the deal was %99.99 that he would be a Cardinal. Knowing how the Jags have been massively overpaying this FA period because they have WAY TOO much CAP space is the first indication that at best it was a 50/50 chance.

Not at all saying to stop sharing your inside info, it is more than fun to read these posts. I have Zero doubt that your info is as you say it is, just that your enthusiasm may cloud you impression of how close these deals are to getting done.

Understand completely, and a completely fair ask of me....but anytime I give a number or sound overly optimistic, it is from a direct quote or written in a text.

The only opinions I include are my feelings on the player and how I think they would fit. The "99.99%" was based off his exact words to a HS teammate and longtime friend. So I just copied the exact response that I read from the texts.

Going forward, I'll be sure to put the messages from the contact in quotes so there is no question as to if its my belief, or it was passed on to me by a legitimate person in the situation.
