Good...I think Player is done, personally.

That punt from the endzone last week was jr. high level and he got a lucky 25 yard bounce.

And I'm still pissed at him for line driving it at Hester. Player's hang time stinks these days.

Wow

Scott Player just went from carefree to superstressed

I think he will go to unemployed in a week.

The release linked to above takes pains to point out why he was available, who he lost his job to, and that his average is better than Player's-- they are prepping the fans for the teams new starting punter

The ST coach had ID'd four goals for the season, that I am going to track.

One of them was;

• A punting net average of 38 yards.

I wonder what Player's is for the preseason.

While I havent done the research -- I am willing to bet that Player leads the league in "Punts blocked" and "punts returned for TDs" over the last three years.

Given the all the different special teams coaches and personnel over that time, Player has been the one constant.

Maybe late last night, Graves turned to Wis and said "you know, maybe, just maybe, its the punter's fault"

It is really pretty simple. They are looking for more hang time.

It would also save 500K+ in cap space for the extensions they will undoubtedly do during the season.

another important tidbit.....Whis telling Davis and Patrick that he needs to see something from them

It was wedged in there on the bottom of the article but to me just like you it was a pretty damning statement.

His assets are his smarts, tenacity and ability to read the offense.

His drawbacks are his size and his speed.

Right now his drawbacks are accentuated by the play at the NFL level and he looks completely lost (i.e. you aren't seeing his smarts, tenacity or reading of offensive sets).

It might take him a couple of years to acclimate to the NFL level where he can use his specific talents...and that sucks. I'd be surprised to see him cut, but if they don't want to be patient he'll be going elsewhere.

We blew it not keeping that kid from training camp last year...he totally killed Player in the pre-season.

Forgot his name...
