They just ran the Cards segment on NFL live. Talked mostly about the quarterback situation, and I think they all made excellent points.

-Floyd Reese thinks Leinart is the real deal IF he can stay healthy. Said that's why they took Young instead of Leinart--health concerns.

-Stink thinks Leinart CAN be the real deal, but he has to prove it by fighting through the pass rush rather than going down.

-Both agree that Leinart is the guy you have to start, and both agree you must stick with them. Reese said, when asked about the 2-QB shuffle, that if you have 2 QBs, you have 0 QBs, and I tend to agree.

On the draft, Kiper marked RB and CB as two big needs, and talked about all the guys we've been discussing, and also added in the name Felix Jones.

Overall, I'm glad they had us on, and I'm glad they didn't focus on the negative of the Fitz fiasco.

Fitz's fiacso? Per the agreement he signed, he is due 14.6 big ones for playing this year. No fiasco here.

No fiasco? Hmm...cap strapped and forced away from going after more pricey free agents while one player currently takes up 1/6 of our cap space, and the extension negotiations have reportedly broken off? Without assigning any blame here, if that's not a fiasco, I don't know what is.

It absolutely is a fiasco...

I agree. On the NFL Network last night they talked about it a little, and said that if a deal isn't struck in the next week or so, that there is a strong possibility the Cards will trade Fitz to the Eagles for Shepherd and a second round draft pick. I know Fitz says he wants to be a Card, and that Graves said Fitz will be a Card, but I have a sick feeling, he won't be.

I'll have a sick feeling if we trade Fitz for just Lito and a 2nd. Say I'm overvaluing Fitz all you want, but Fitz is worth more than that. If his contract is holding him back, I blame the GM, and then the agent.

Will that feeling be sicker than shelling out 14.5 to him this year only to be forced into cutting him next year or trading him for less???

Well said. I am fairly certain we can come up with a guy that can catch 70 balls or so before we find a real good DB who can walk into a system and play.

The longer we wait the more desperate we look and the 2 becomes a 3/4. Can you imagine what that contract will look like a few years from now. F/O made huge error and the only way out is a reasonable 4/5 year extension or trade. I hope they put a time limit of no more than a week or so one way or the other.

Maybe. At least I have another year to wait before I get sick. :)

Maybe if the Cards make the playoffs next year, it will convince Larry "want to stay."

I think the Cards will cave first and go with the 4 year plan before they let him play for 14.6 million this year or trade him. No way the latter two happen.

The cardinals are not making the playoffs next year. We will be lucky to got 8-8 again.

How are we going to win more games without Calvin Pace?

How are we going to win more games when we could not sign 50mil FA because Fitzgerld is a greedy bum ?

I mean. If Fitzgerald gets 14million then we HAVE to give 14 million to Dansby, Boldin, Wilson and Dockett that money in the next two year. Which means we will lose at least half of those guys.

These are dire times indeed.

Isn't you that is complaining that every post/thread around here turns negative?

Come on, Rugby, back off, please. You've made your points many times. Enough of the sarcasm.

If it comes to it and they're ready to pull the trigger on Sheppard and a second, I hop they put out a memo that says, "hey, Fitz is going to be traded for bargain-bottom value. Can you beat this deal?" and see what they get.

If they don't get anything better, then that's his value on the market with that anchor around his neck. Obviously it would be much greater without it. But, fact is, he has it...or we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

What's better.....sarcasm or posting of down and out hatred of Card management moves and coaches and players? I always thought sarcasm helped battle some of the negativity on this and any other sports board.

If sarcasm warrents a suspension from this board then maybe a heads up in that regards is in order....like sarcasm is not allowed or you get suspended.

Speaking about Rugby personally, he created a thread, and then got angry that the topic turned negative. Yet it seems like every one of his posts, (sarcasm or not) have been negative.

We have some of our brethren who have obsessive/compulsive behavior and is only treatable by professionals if so at all.

I must be nuts. I've always thought Rugby to be one of the positive kool-aid drinkers on here. Can you be a negative sarcastic kool-aid drinker?

Please be sure to send that memo to Denver. Shanahan would love Fitz and he does tend to work on deals.
