Since he was released, does it make sense for us to pick him up? I know he is a shadow of what he used to be.. but does it make sense to give him a shot?

He is a defensive liability who can still grap 8-10 RPG and give you 14 PPG. Not much of a post move, but still has a nice 12-15 foot jumper. He sat pretty much all games in the 4th quater when the score was close while Gibson got all of those minutes. If he is cheap, why not take a flyer and give him 20-25 minutes a night. He still does run the floor well and has endless hiar jokes.

Today's contract news on 2014 pay: Jimmy Graham to make $13M to play for Saints; Carlos Boozer to make $17M to not play for Bulls.

Nine teams, by my count, have enough cap space to put in post-amnesty bids for Carlos Boozer: ATL, CHA, HOU, LAL, MIL, ORL, PHI, PHX & UTAH

I think he ends up on the Lakers.

Lakers would make sense. Try to recover from the loss of Gasol.

And groom Randle with the couple of postives has still has left. He helped Gibson develop and decent midrange jumper.

Just realized that it wasn't very long between the Bulls paying big money to Ben Wallace and then Carlos Boozer.

I think a better question would be why? Doesn't he gets benched for his defense and lack of clutch play? He can't run the court with our guys. And what good would it do to play a guy with such limited range? Our offense is based on utilizing our penetrating guards which isn't going to work well if they find our center's defender AND Boozer's defender waiting for them every time they drove the lane. He'd also be way down the depth chart. I doubt he'd be happy playing behind Markieff and probably Marcus.

IMO, Boozer is a poor solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Now, if you find the Carlos equivalent of a center, that's a different story. With or without the shoe polished head.

Well, our offense shouldn't be based solely on penetrating guards but that's a whole different subject ;)

Experience, rebounding. He's old and soft, but he can still score a little around the basket and shoot the close stuff. If you're going to play offense from the outside in, offensive rebounding is key. Boozer can still help in that regard. His rebounding numbers surprisingly haven't dropped off that much in the twilight of his career(when you look at his PER).

I wouldn't pay him a ton or bring him in to be "the guy" don't get me wrong...we don't have "the guy" on the roster including the Morris brothers.

I'm not so sure. Markieff took a huge step forward last season and I see no reason to believe he's hit his peak. If he can match last year's play as a starter this season he'll be far from our weakest link. It would be nice if he could grab a few more boards but he can score from anywhere on the court and he likes contact. He's pretty solid defensively although his lack of length hurts a bit on both ends.

My biggest concern with him centers around the 3 point shot. He played his best for us last year when he started looking for other ways to score rather than setting up from the arc. He attempted threes at about half the frequency rate of his rookie season. But as a starter in our offense, he's probably going to be instructed to line up out there far more often than I'd like.

Do we know the Suns put in a bid? I haven't read about it.

I read it on another board, but then I saw something else that said that we were one of 6 or 7 teams that can afford to put in a bid. Could have been the same thing.

Only teams under the cap can bid.
