Would rather have Quentin than Kubel even with his injury history. Good move by Padres as he didn't cost much in terms of prospects.

Quentin put up better numbers in a more hitter friendly ballpark. He also has never played more than 131 games.

I'm perfectly fine with Kubel.

CBP is very much a hitters park, but not more so than Chase. He would have put up those numbers here too. You're right about this frailty though that doesn't make him useless, it just doesn't make him a star.

By no means does it make him useless. You look at his numbers and wonder what he would do if he were ever able to play a full 162 game schedule and it's frightening.

My thing is, I think it's conceivable that Kubel (who showed some power in his bat hitting in a pitcher's paradise in Minneapolis) can put up the 30-100 numbers here at Chase too. I'm not one who likes to dwell too much on the coulda, shoulda, wouldas of the world, and instead prefer to take a good look at the ones we have and think for the best.
