I see in the trailers that Filmore(VW Bug) makes an appearance but considering George Carlin is no longer with us, using him with any lines will be kind of strange.

They'll just have an actor talk like an old hipster. No one will know the difference.

Jim Varney did the voice of the slinky dog in the first two Toy Story movies, but he died before they made the third. The actor who replaced him sounded pretty much the same.

this is the first Pixar movie I literally have zero interest in seeing.

might not be a big miss for the bean counters, but it's getting slammed for the most part (ESPECIALLY for a Pixar film) by critics everywhere.

39% fresh... that's really bad for anyone, but it's horrific for Pixar's normal level of excellence.

Yep. I'll probably see it because of the kids. However this one looks like a dud. Even Pixar isn't perfect.

Hey maybe Dreamworks might actually win an oscar this year for best animated film.

Same here.

I saw some behind the scenes stuff and they're like "How about a spy movie with cars?" and my immediate thought was..."Uh, no thanks."

The idea sounds like a straight to DVD concept if I've ever heard one. If it was anyone other than Pixar it probably would go staright to cable or DVD.

WHY CARS 2 HAS SOME CONSERVATIVES FURIOUS

-------------------------------------------------------
Could an animated film about cars become Big Oil's next nemesis?

In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, "Cars 2" director John Lasseter discussed the major overhaul to his upcoming film, a revamp that makes Big Oil the bad guys.

He told the paper:

I kept thinking about, "OK. A spy movie in the world where cars are alive. What would be a really good kind of über bad guy? Who is an über bad guy?" I kept going to big oil. This is before what happened in the Gulf of Mexico.
Why isn't alternative fuel more... Why isn't everybody jumping on that bandwagon? It makes so much sense: Electricity, solar, whatever. There's ethanol. There's all this stuff you could be doing. And so I thought, well, that could be really cool in that you could have big oil versus alternative fuel. That's when we kind of crafted the bad guy's story.

The greatest bad guys, you understand where they're coming from. They believe they're doing the right thing. Sometimes it's for greed, sometimes it's for other reasons, but they are what they call the center of good. They always believe they're doing the right thing.

A "Cars 2" trailer advertises, "On their next big road trip, they're not only racing across the world, they're racing to save the world."

Some conservatives are already enraged. The Lonely Conservative blog wrote, "We conservatives and believers in free markets are accused of being paranoid when we say the Hollywood industry is trying to indoctrinate our children with left wing propaganda. But now movie directors and producers are coming out and admitting what they're doing. I'm just glad I found this out before I allowed my kids to persuade me to take them to see the movie 'Cars 2.'" Indeed. Evil films can brainwash children into caring about the environmental degradation that their generation will have to pay for.

Another blogger questioned whether John Lasseter's message is hypocritical compared to his own actions. Christian Toto wrote, "Doesn't he realize how much oil will be burned bringing "Cars 2" merchandise to the marketplace? Should Lasseter, CEO of Pixar and director of "Cars 2," be criticized for trumpeting green causes while helping Disney burn so much energy for a profit?"

While some movies are embracing green filmmaking, the movie industry produces large amounts of waste during and after production. Some would argue that the eco-awareness raised by some films ultimately outweighs the production's carbon footprint.

This isn't the first time that a Pixar film has upset conservative audiences. According to ThinkProgress, "WALL-E" left right-wingers "apoplectic" over a cute robot on a trashed earth seeking love.

I doubt it's a very large segment of conservatives that are "enraged" about a film that promotes green energy alternatives. This article is painting all conservatives with a pretty broad brush, atleast I hope so.

In my experience it's only a very small segment of the religious right that is against environmentalism because "It doesn't matter what we do to the earth cuz JC is coming back to save us all anyway." They are out there, but hopefully they are few and far between.

Thought it was a fun movie. Not Pixar's best but even Pixar's worst movie is better than most movies out there. I think their biggest problem was making Larry the Cable guy the star of the show. He should have been a sidekick like he was in the original.

Very cool. Glad they are helping you out. :D

:trout: :p

Harkins offers a free showing to Hope Kids once a month. Hope Kids is an organization that helps kids with life-threatening issues. It's really cool cause the show is at 9 a.m. and is only for those kids and their families. So, you don't have ignorant morons staring at the bald kid with cancer or the kid with autism that might yell out or have a seizure during the film.

I haven't been to a showing yet, but am looking forward to going tomorrow. It's a nice thing that Harkins does. :)

I know of no conservatives who are outraged over this. Hollywood is left leaning which is no secret and the conservatives I know just shrug it off as such not to mention that, at least the conservatives that I know, go see a movie to be entertained and could care less about any political message. That said, I believe the HuffPo might have wanted to see this movie first before posting a blog like that. Before I go any further, spolier alert:

In the end, the plot wasn't about green energy at all but a Branson type billionaire finding a large oil reserve. The only green fuel involved was Filmore's blend that we saw in the first movie. As for Filmore, yes, just some voice actor using a hipster voice, however, the Flo in Cars and the Flo in this movie weren't even close. I did like how they wrote in Newman's(Doc) death. And all in all it wasn't as bad as some of you might think. Made me laugh several times. Although, this was more of a 'Mater movie than anything else.
