Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge has been promising for months that he was going to fill the scoring void left when he traded Antoine Walker to Dallas.

Ainge has made his move.

Two league sources told Insider that the Celtics and Cavaliers have agreed to a trade that will send Ricky Davis, Chris Mihm and Michael Stewart to Boston for Eric Williams, Tony Battie and Kedrick Brown.

The trade is expected to be announced later Monday.

Davis is a scoring machine but has bumped heads with new head coach Paul Silas. Silas coached Davis as a rookie in Charlotte and the two didn't get along, and Silas has grown frustrated with Davis' lack of defensive effort this season.

The trade gives the Cavs three solid defenders to surround LeBron James. In addition, Cleveland creates extra cap flexibility next summer when Williams' contract comes off the books.

The Celtics get a player capable of scoring 20 points a game in Davis as well as big man Mihm, who is playing the best basketball of his career.

I still think Boston needs a PG and a C now that Raef is done for the year.

If Davis could ever get his head screwed on straight he would be one of the top players in the league. If that happens, Boston gets a helluva deal.

Funny story about Ricky Davis one of my friends from school told me.

Apparently he went to a high school in Iowa, then went to college in Iowa. The guy lived there his entire life. However, when he entered the NBA, he wanted to sound more "thuggish" so he claims that he is from Vegas. My friend knows someone who went to high school with him, and said "I think he went to Vegas for a vacation once......"

I think this is a very good trade for Boston. They desperately need another scorer, and Ricky Davis can definitely score. They also acquired Chris Mihm although I think he will be a restricted free agent this summer. They will have to eat another year of Michael Stewart's contract too. As long as the owners don't mind spending the money it looks like a good deal.

Unfortunately I have Paul Pierce on one of my fantasy basketball teams, and I expect his scoring might go down now.

I agree that seems to be a steal for the Celtics.

I like Battie but his value isn't higher than Mihm's. Williams is a more productive player and has a shorter contract than Stewart.
Davis had some problems but him for Kedrick Brown?

I like Ricky Davis very much, the media just puts him into the same situation that they put Marbury in.

I saw Mihm play a few days ago and thought he looked pretty good - but Cleveland has been itching to dump him for some time to cut costs. Besides, I think they have high hopes for Diop. The latter had some very strong games defensively this year... suspect he's injured right now.

If Mihm continues to develope it looks like a lop sided trade in favor of Boston but Silas knows what he wants from his guys so if he was in favor of the trade, and you'd certainly assume he was, I expect it will help the Cavs in the long run, regardless of how it looks from afar. My guess is that Silas wants to get a good, penetrating PG and slide James over to SG. The Cavs also have their high draft pick Wagner on the IL and they might be expecting good things from him yet at SG with LaBron sliding even further to SF.

Woohoo, go Chris Mihm! My fantasy team is in desperate need of his production, which had been tailing off recently. Perhaps he was distracted by the trade rumors, and is ready to go out and kick some ass for the Celtics now.

Lets see if I regret not pulling the trigger in the next week or so. I have a gut feeling I might.

In the off seasons I expected the Cavs would unload Ricky so LeBron could go to #2. He is great running the break, but he is not really a point guard.

I guess Ricky will end up at SF, but I'm not sure it makes sense. We'll see.
