The Indianapolis Colts announced that cornerback Charvarius Ward will wear No. 21 with the team.

At each stop that Ward has had, he's worn a different number. In college at Middle Tennessee State, Ward wore No. 2. With Kansas City, he was No. 35, and in San Francisco, Ward was No. 7.

The Colts signed Ward to a three-year deal worth $54 million and included $27 million guaranteed. Ward mentioned that he thought he was going to end up signing with the New Orleans Saints, but the Colts obviously showed how much they wanted him.

Colts' defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo recently highlighted Ward's fit in his defense, mentioning his length, ability to take the ball away, and ability to play press coverage.

"You got a corner that's been a proven guy throughout his career," Anarumo said. "Tall, can really run, he's got length, great arm length. Excels in press coverage, we want to be tight in coverage as we defend people this year. He has done a great job of that in his career, and also taking the ball away."

Ward was an All-Pro during the 2023 season, where he allowed a completion rate of only 54% and had a whopping five interceptions and 17 pass breakups, according to PFF.

He also brings championship experience to the Colts, having won a Super Bowl in Kansas City and appeared in another with San Francisco.
