The New Orleans Saints were considered one of the team's with the most needs to address in this offseason. That remains the case through the first few days of NFL free agency.

Most of the Saints' moves have revolved around bringing players back with contract extensions and restructures, but they have also brought in defensive lineman Davon Godchaux via trade and agreed to a deal with Justin Reid back at safety.

With so much left to do this offseason, a best-player-available approach has been floated going into April's 2025 NFL draft. That is what CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso sees them doing in his first post-free agency mock draft. He has New Orleans selecting Missouri Tigers offensive tackle Armand Membou with the ninth-overall selection. Here is what Trapasso has to say about this pick:

"Back-to-back first-round picks at offensive tackle for the Saints. Their new head coach Kellen Moore knows full well how vital it is to have a solid blocking unit at the foundation of the offense."

While offensive tackle isn't the biggest need on the table, it is hard to call Membou a bad selection. He was one of the best right tackles in all of college football last season and could slot in as a starter right away, upgrading Trevor Penning. He helped his case as a top draft pick by dominating the NFL Scouting Combine, which he walked out of with a 9.89 Relative Athletic Score. His speed and strength combo stands out on film, as he clearly plays with a dominant force and can keep up with the twitchier guys on the line.

Membou also has an extra feather in his cap as he plays for Moore's younger brother Kirby, who is the offensive coordinator for the Missouri Tigers. If Kellen is indeed interested in the player, he has a great source with lot of knowledge on him.

Given that he has played all but one of his collegiate snaps at right tackle, that is likely where he will end up at the next level. That would allow the Saints to move Trevor Penning inside, where some believe he would be better suited anyway. To this point the Saints have shut down that speculation and committed to keeping Penning at right tackle. But getting a high-end prospect like Membou in the building might change their tune.
