I have made three drafts here, depending on what we do via FA. I tried to take different guys in each one, but that didn't always work.

As you will see, I have more than one player for various picks. Availibility is always a concern, so I added backup selections.

I am not sure all/any of these are feasible within the cap, so if I messed up, sorry.

Draft 1

FA Signings- Calvin Pace, Bubba Franks, Josh Brown, Mwelde Moore

1. McFadden is gone, but F Jones is still available, so I traded #16 for #'s 21 and 28 from Dallas

1a. Mike Jenkins-CB-S. Florida/Aqib Talib-CB-Kansas/Cromartie-CB-Tenn St
I like all three of these guys and can see all of them being our selection without saying we reached.
1b. Branden Albert-OG-VA/Chilo Rachal-OG-USC
Chico is the best guard in the draft IMO. Albert has the most upside. One of them is sure to be there.
2. Ray Rice-RB-Rutgers/Jamaal Charles-RB-Texas
I love what Rice brings to the table and while I am not big on Charles, many on this board are so maybe I am missing something.

3. Dre Moore-DT(3-4DE)-Md/Owen Schmitt-FB-WV
I doubt Moore is available here, but I can hope right? T Smith was everything I had hoped he would be this year, but Schmitt is a natural born destroyer. You always want guys like him on your side.

4. Tommy Blake-DE(3-4 OLB)-Texas Christian
His mental illness presents a risk, but his speed and talent make him worth it here. If he dedicates himself he is an absolute steal here IMO. If he doesn't, we still did better than last year by drafting the bust in the 4th as opposed to the 3rd.

5. Durant Brooks-P- /Mike Dragosavich-P-Georgia Tech
Hopefully Brooks is here, but if not Drago is a beast and you gotta love getting a 15yr player w/ Pro Bowl potential in the 5th round.

6.Breno Giacomini-OT- Louisville
Developmental OT/TE tweener who at best could eventually be a very quick LT and at worst can be one hell of a one dimensional blocking TE.

7. JT Mapu-DT-Tennessee
Had one year to play after backing up Justin Harrell most of his career. has decent measureables and could become a runstuffing end in the 3-4.

Draft 2

FA Signings- A. Faneca, Calvin Pace, Mwelde Moore

1. Ryan Clady-LT-Boise St/Jeff Otah-LT-Pitt/Chris Williams-LT-Vandy
Our line is officially done. We can run all over you and let Matt take his time in the passing game. With the holes that will be opened, JJ could gain 1,000yds (had I not cut him).

2. Tracy Porter-CB-Indiana/Antoine Cason-CB-Arizona
I like both, but Porter has the edge speedwise so his name goes first.

3. Chris Ellis-DE(3-4OLB)-VT/Jason Jones-DE(3-4OLB)-Eastern Michigan
Ellis is an ass, and under Denny I would have said that he would create problems, but Whiz doesn't seem to go for that stuff and I trust D-Dock will have him check his mouth at the door. Skills-wise, I have Ellis as a bit better, but I really like the both of them. One or the other should be available.

4. Mike Hart-RB-Michigan
Say what you will about his injuries and mileage, but he runs like a younger Edge and if we can maintain this line, he could have similar career #s.

5. Durant Brooks-P-/Mike Dragosavich-P-Georgia Tech/Alexis Serna-K-Oregon St
Durant and Drago are likely no more than wishfull thinking this late in the draft, but if so Brett Kern should be there next round. Alexis Serna's leg is every bit as big as Neil's but his confidence is still intact.

6. Jason Shirley-DT-Fresno St/Brandon Coutu-K-Georgia
The guy is 6'5 330 and runs a sub 5. 40yd dash. With some offseason conditionally John Lott-style, he could shed 30lbs and be an absolute monster. He could really be the future at DE.

7. Geoff Price-P-ND/Brett Kern-P-Toledo

Draft 3

FA Signings- A. Faneca, J. Brown, Mwelde Moore, Drayton Florence

1. Quentin Groves-DE(3-4OLB)-Auburn/Derrick Harvey-DE(3-4OLB)-Florida
I have Groves graded just a hair above Harvey, but either one would help our team greatly.

2. Donnie Avery-WR-Houston
Super fast and shifty, the perfect compliment to Fitz and Boldin. He could really blossom this year which may help ease the pain of the possible departure of Fitz or Boldin next year.

3. Chad Rhinehart-OT-Northern Iowa
Russ Grimm-type lineman. Super tough and moves the pile. Great run-blocker and good pass protector as well. Lack of exposure due to his team, but the guy is a top 8 tackle IMO.

4. Pat Lee-CB-Auburn/Dwight Lowery-CB-San Jose St/Chevis Jackson-CB-LSU/Darnell Terrell-CB-Missouri
Fast guys who can all play CB as well as STs. Terrell is very intriguing with great size 6'3 210 and good speed 4.38. He could turn out to be the answer at FS when we finally move Wilson down to ILB and Rolle goes to SS.

5. Anthony Alridge-RB-Houston
Tiny guy, 5'8 170, but runs a 4.2 40 and averaged 10ypc. He also scored every ten times he touched the ball.

6. Jamario Thomas-RB-N.Texas/Keon Lattimore-RB-Maryland
Thomas ran for 1,800+ and 17tds as freshman, but his team crumbled the past few years and so did his stats. Lattimore split time at Md, but is Ray Lewis' little brother. That makes him worth taking here IMO.

7. Geoff Price-P-ND

I hope we don't draft this guy purely based on all the "Chico and the Man" jokes we'd have to endure on the board and in the media.

I really like a lot of aspects of all of these.
Well done, I love the emphasis of O Linemen drafted high.
I also love Moore in FA.

As for UNI players, if Brandon Keith is around I'd take a look at him. He's more of a "project" than some other players, but he's got potential.

Good read. You put a lot of work into it. Have not heard of half the guys you mentioned.

It will be interesting to revisit these mocks after the draft.

I like draft two. But Porter won't be available to us in the 2nd. I'll put $$ on it.
You're probably right. I thought he was going to be the 2nd or 3rd CB taken, but he isn't on anyone's top 5 list. I am guessing he runs about 4.3 at the combine.

I like the FA signings in draft 2, but the actual draft on 1. Only thing I would change is I think Groves could be around at 28, and I like Tony Hills in the 3rd and Dexter Jackson in the 6th. The rest of the draft is fine. I assume you would be dropping Arrington in this scenario?

Yeah, JJ and Shipp got the boot with that one. I will be pleasently surprised if Groves is there at #16. After what the G-Men did at the SB this year, I am expecting a bunch of teams to put a premium on pass rushers in the draft. I think Groves is #3 on that list behind Ellis and Ghoulston. I left Hill off my list because I have only seen him play a few times, he didn't work out at the combine and I am weary of Texas Ts.

My biggest regret was forgetting about Syracuse's Taj Smith. He is a burner wideout (4.3 40) who made the mistake of going to a program on its way out the door. I really think this guy can be a big-time player. I think I am going to go edit him in.

I like draft 3. Minus the Moore signing, drafting 2 RB's seems like overkill at that position. But, throw enough mud at the wall some will stick.

You can never have too many RBs IMO. Look at the Giants this year. They started the year with a bunch of nobodies who weren't expected to come close to filling Tiki's shoes. By the end of the year, Jacobs, Ward, Droughns and Bradshaw had all been dominent at one point or another.

Moore is used to that when he played for the Vikings. I wouldn't complain believe me, but what happens to Shipp and Arrington?

Take Durrant in the 4th. He'll lock down the punting game for 8 years. 50% of his punts were downed within the 20. He was trained by Ray Guy...the best punter EVER.

Moore is already better than every RB we have not named Edge and if both rooks make the team
what happens to Shipp and Arrington?

JJ goes down like his initials stand for Jenna Jameson. Supposedly, Carthon (our RBs coach) likes and sees promise in him, but you know what they say.. potential is french for not very good. Shipp is the most overpaid player on the team and Rod needs to right his wrong and move on IMO.

I like both guys and wish them the best of luck, but they just don't seem to be working out here.

Shipp can sail in to the sunset. He just doesn't have any one strength that's worth keeping him on the roster for. He's not very fast, may have been good on special teams in the past but wasn't this year, isn't so great in the redzone that he'd be considered a goal line specialist. I like him a lot and love his work ethic and dedication but it's a business and he's expendable.

JJ could be shown the door but at least he has good speed and has value as a kick returner. He's never going to be an every down back but can make plays if he gets the ball in space. I think he's adequate as a third RB.

Either way we need someone new behind Edge.

I went to the Cards Rams game in week 5 in st. louie. The cards had the ball closing the 2nd half. Warner threw a screen pass to jj and he ran for about 50 yards and the cards got into the redzone.

I see promise in jj, but not shipp. But Shipp did score some TDs in that game.

First, that catch was for about 30yds IIRC. I agree that JJ can do things when he gets the ball in space, but IMO he is paid too much to catch 25-30 balls a year.

Again, I like JJ, but like Stout said, it's a business. If I were given a management salary at work, but was outperformed by my employees, I would be unemployed very quickly.

30 or 50, the dude was quick. Yeah I see both jj and Shipp packing. The deal with Graves signing Shipp again Idunno, maybe he wanted to keep some of the same players while hiring a new HC.

Man, looking back, the Cards should've grabed Hester in rd2. I was hoping for this, but we needed a RB.

Funny you say that. I can't remember where I read it, but supposedly the Cards were all set to take Hester in the 3rd last year before the Bears jumped on him. Maybe it is all for the best though. Had we taken Hester we would have won the Chicago game and Denny may still be the coach.

Maybe it was the second where we planned on taking him, I cant remember to be sure.
