Truth be told the events that took place Sunday were as depressing a time as I have had being a sports fan in like ...ever. Being at the game and watching us fall apart tick byt tick was just excruciating and I am now on the Darksider bandwagon.

I was despondent after the game and while walking out of the stadium I saw two kids in Fitz jerseys with their Dad. As I walked past him I turned to him and said "don't put your kids throught this"

Like SWD I felt that too many people were propping us up and this was a typical Cardinals chance to show everybody why they are in fact the Cardinals.

But I will tell you why we lost (other then ST's literally handing them the game in OT - two coverage penalites, a 16 yard punt and missed FG - the entire unit and the coach should be put in front of a firing squad for as valient as the O and D were in the extra period) this game.

Depth.

To me when Eric Green left the game I knew we were in trouble. No Wilson and Green forces Celestine to play and makes Rolle a corner rather than the safety dynamo he was in the Cinci game.

Celestine should NEVER be on an NFL field for a defensive snap. To me the play that cost us the game was Rolle trying to jump a Dilfer pass to Robinson (which while dumb - I do not fault him) and then Celestine made the biggest whiff of a tackle I have ever seen against a below average WR.

Go look at the replay - that 80 yard touch cost us the game by both the six points and momentum. And that play was so elementary.

Until the Cardinals have the depth where Pee-wee football players arn't playing significant role in any game - we are destined to be a laughingstock

How about the first touchdown by Gore where Holt couldn't even touch Gore to slow him down. He whiffed like you do in Madden.

Celestine wiffed BADLY on the play you are apeaking of (I believe it was a 50-60 yarder to Arnaz Battle), and then wiffed even worse on Gore's 35-yd. TD run. On TV it looked like he wasn't even trying to make a tackle on either play.

Your right that was battle. Being at the game makes it difficult to get all the details and I sure as hell didn't watch any replays or read any coverage this past week.

I completely agree with you about Green. I made a post about it as well. Damn our secondary sucks right now.

While I would like to think that the play of guys like Celestine were the cause of last weekend's debacle, in reality, I don't expect that much out of players who were late training camp additions. The reason we lost the game had far more to do with our "A"-line players, than our "C"'s.

The turning point in the game was early in the first quarter when Warner threw an ill-advised pass to Fitz that was easily intercepted. The momentum of the first TD and subsequent 3-and-out by the D was totally wasted. Warner gave the niners a short field and they took advantage of it.

Boldin then fumbles away a big gain and momentum changer and gives the niners a short field again. By this point, if I was on the D, I would be shooting daggers at the O.

I could go on, but just typing this is making me sick to my stomach. So for the sake of brevity, let's just say that we can add Whiz & Rackers to the "A-Player/Bad Game" list, too.

IMHO, how can we hold our subs up to ridicule, when the play of our so-called stars was so below par, that they put the subs into positions where they were bound to fail?

Stars, coaching, whatever... the worst game of the season IMHO!

Imagine counting on that guy in the playoffs.............

I was pissed that he made a critical play in the first meeting between our squads - but things seem to work out that way.............

As I walked past him I turned to him and said "don't put your kids throught this"

I have to say, the statement above put a smile on my face...

Of all the things we put our children through, you do have to wonder if exposing them to the Cardinals is a form of child abuse.

Assuming you guys are talking about Oliver Celestin (with no "e" on the end of his last name), he's been sucking wind for a long time. When Marquand Manuel was knocked out of our Super Bowl loss, it was Celestin who allowed Hines Ward to get behind him on one TD play and he was also out of position when Willie Parker took off for the end zone on the long run.

Career special teamer... or at least he should be.

For the life of me, I'll never understand why you guys keep picking up the guys we cut loose (Celestin, Huff, Tafoya, ...).

I had to think twice when I read this because I was at the game with my two boys (ages 9 & 11) who were both wearing jerseys.

I thought, "was I so down, that I ignored someone's comment to me on the way out?"

But only one was wearing a Fitz jersey, so it probably wasn't me.

But my wife thinks that raising kids to be Cardinal fans is borderline child abuse. I ignore her, however, because she is a Cowboy fan, and thus is not entitled to an opinion. :)

My kids refuse to be Cardinal football fans. One roots for the Texans because he lives in Houston and my 13 year old is a Titans fan because of Vince Young.

And it is precisely because every time I almost have them convinced they need to root for the Cards we get a game like Sunday and I lose them.

I don't think Tafoya has played that badly.

Actually, Tafoya was the only one of those guys who played well when he was with us too. Solid backup guy. He was the best of the guys you picked up off of our trash heap. Don't you guys also have Rodney Bailey on your roster? He's another one that we cut lose after the Super Bowl.

they currently have chris cooper who I like as well

both him and tafoya are good depth guys to have - hard working, high motor, tough approach

guys like palepoi, huff, celestin and antonio cochrane should never touch another roster

most people have........

I actually met palepois family out here at SDS before the game in 2003 - even offered a pass to get stadium access post game - they were all really down to earth and fun people

I liked the guy, wanted him to succeed - he just didn't have it in him to be an NFL lineman

After the "whiff" I tore through my program to find the name of the player who was disgracing #35 for the Cards after so many seasons of having a shutdown corner wear that jersey.

I was like Oliver Celestin - who?!

2nd round pick on that guy. Man, I'm glad Holmgren is no longer our GM.
