With the first two games of their opening-round series behind them, the Boston Celtics find themselves in a familiar spot—up 2-0 and pushing through adversity. While their on-court performances have been steady, the physical toll of playoff basketball is already beginning to show.
Boston controlled Game 1 behind a balanced team effort but suffered a costly blow when Jayson Tatum went down after absorbing contact on a drive to the rim. Though he stayed in the game to finish with 17 points and 14 rebounds, postgame tests revealed a bone bruise in his right wrist—later identified as a distal radius injury.
The All-Star forward was ruled out for Game 2, with head coach Joe Mazzulla confirming that Tatum was day-to-day.

Despite the setback, Boston managed to hold off Orlando in Game 2, powered by Jaylen Brown’s 35-point explosion. Brown, who has been managing a lingering knee issue, is now listed as questionable ahead of Game 3, along with veteran guard Jrue Holiday, who is dealing with a hamstring strain.
But hours before Friday's game, Celtics fans finally received some exciting news: Jayson Tatum has been upgraded to questionable for Game 3.
The update marks a significant step in his recovery and raises the possibility of his return on the road in Orlando.
Tatum, who averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists this season, remains the centerpiece of Boston’s championship aspirations. His return—especially with Brown and Holiday both still managing injuries—could be just the lift the Celtics need to maintain control of the series and push toward a commanding 3-0 lead.
