According to Ford's sources, Kobe was going to the Clippers. :p
Actually, today, he is reporting the Bulls were Kobe's first pick. He said several GMs told him today that Kobe wanted to be with the Bulls, but that they couldn't pay him that much.

Everyone all off season thought Kobe would resign with the Lakers. I thought that all along, until all the recent moves and announcements by the Clippers, which threw a lot of doubt into everyone. ;)

The Clips might want to match, but they have lots of things against them. Q said he wants to "Move on and become a Phoenix Sun". Not to mention his feuds with corey magette.

No, as a opposed to a report that something "will" happen. Stein didn't report today that Kobe "might" sign with the Lakers. He reported that he did.

"A team executive said the Nets have deals on or near the negotiating table regarding Kerry Kittles with the Clippers and the Cavaliers. Both deals were in a holding pattern last night as those teams attempt to resolve their issues. The Clippers are hoping to woo Kobe Bryant, which would render their need for Kittles moot."

Looks like they are looking for ways to replace Q already...

What do you mean? We've had several posts saying that Ford often doesn't know what he's talking about. That IS a "fact."

Will the Nets still try to trade Kittles now that they've given up on Martin?

Boy, the timing of all of this is so delicate.

Man so much player movement this summer ... it just keeps on getting better and better

Hopefully the trade between Nets and Clippers goes through and Q becomes a Sun

The only thing is what can the Clippers offer to match Kittle's contract? Since they are under the caps, are the clippers just going to offer a first round pick and aborb his contract?

Questions... Questions...

Any body else think Nets are going to suck next year?

We've been hearing the Nets wanted to clear cap space and moving Kittles for a draft pick would get it done. Next summer they get out from under that old Mutombo contract, so they would only be keeping Kittles for another year at most. I suppose they could get someone like Sura at a much lower price with their MLE or make the deal with the Clippers a three way.

Kittles makes 9,816.666 mil next year on the last year of his contract.

If the Clips match on Richardson they can do it for apx. 4-5 mil less and have a better player. (in my estimation) :p

But by trading for Kittles they are only commited to 9M and 1 year then having an unhappy Q for 45M and 5 years. It is actually a 36M difference and puts them back into the FA market next year.

Kittles is more of a classic SG. Last season, he hit 45.3% of his shots and has a career of 37.8% for three but has been down the last two years. He averages 13.1 ppg. The big advantage Kittles has is that he is pretty good defender while Q is not nearly as good. Maybe someday, but the Nets were a good defensive team this year and he played a part and he made about half the number of turnovers as Q did last season.
