If the Dbacks make the playoffs, its going to be especially impressive because two of the veterans they were planning on counting on, Tracy and Hudson, are hurt down the stretch, and their #2 pitcher has been out most of the year.

Tracy getting hurt may have been a blessing in surprise, because we discovered the bat that is Mark Reynolds.

I'd say Reynolds' glove has been the bigger upgrade. Reynolds has the potential for a lot more power than Tracy, but he strikes out so much. Tracy is one of the few Dback players who could've been relied on to hit around 300 or better.

That's too bad. Used to be a huge Tracy fan but he's becoming pretty injury-prone. I think Reynolds can do a nice job replacing him full time.

The RJ injury upset me the most though. :( He was pitching so well for a while to.

I'm not sure I'll ever understand the love for Reynolds over Tracy. Tracy's rookie year was better than Reynolds's has been, his second year in the bigs was miles ahead, and even with a bum knee last year he was still better than Reynolds has been this year. Tracy walks more, hits for better average, and strikes out less with comparable slugging and defense. Sure the power potential of Reynolds is going to have some clamoring, but Tracy has already hit 27 homers in a season and I'm not convinced that Reynolds will ever hit a substantial amount more than that per year. This is probably a moot point now anyhow, as it looks like both of Tracy's knees are shot. I really hope he will be able to come back strong though, the team could really use him.

I agree. Now that Reynolds is showing some discipline at the plate, and not trying to put every ball into the air, he's starting to strike out less and show his potential. Which is to be an very outstanding Major League power hitter.

And after a rocky Minor League fielding performance, Reeynolds has become very solid in the field. A 3B, who has the rounded experience of having played 2B and SS, is a good commodity.

After Tony Clark, Mark Reynolds is my favority Diamondback position player.

I'd be comparing Tracy to Conor Jackson. Because we need a left handed bat in the heart of the order, I'd take Tracy over Jackson at 1B, once he recuperates.

They're both good hitters, but Chad is a decent fielder, which put him way ahead of the nonchalant Conor Jackson.

I heard Mike Greenberg talking about a similar situation w/ the Jets recently, people calling for Clemens over Pennington. I think its just natural when fans see a young guy come up, and make a big splash when replacing a sort of average/pedestrian player, they get very excited.

Tracy ranks in the top ten of most Dback offensive categories - he has had a good career so far.

Last year - 20 HR, 80 RBI, .281 BA, 41 2B, 168 Hits - solid player.

Reynolds is better right now in every manner, shape and form. He has more power, is better defensively, has a stronger and especially a more ACCURATE arm, is faster, and is young. He will only get better. Better than Tracy ever could have.

He is already cutting down on the strikeouts. This kid was in double A at the beginning of May.

Oh - I love the way Reynolds plays - but no reason to just discard Tracy. Both can be valuable to the team.

I think Reynolds can be penciled in for 30 HR and 100 RBIs next season... Next seasson stat predictions for me.

1- Young- 40 HR, .260 AVG, 90 RBI, 40 SB
2- Hudson- 20 HR, .270 AVG, 75 RBI
3- Byrnes-25 HR, .285 AVG, 75 RBI, 50 SB
4- Reynolds- 30 HR, .285, 110 RBI
5- Jackson- 20 HR, .280, 70 RBI
6- Snyder- 20 HR, .270, 65 RBI
7- Upton- 20 HR, .270, 70 RBI
8- Drew- 15 HR, .260, 70 RBI

A little early for predictions, but I cant wait to continue watching this team... They are exciting and have plenty of room for growth.
