Safety Tyvon Branch set to leave the Chiefs. Will visit the Cardinals, who will try to close the deal quickly.

I thought I remembered this guy, and he is who I though he was. He played for the Raiders for a while, and was pretty damn good for them, and then disappeared.

Turns out he was hurt for 2 years straight in Oakland, and when the new GM and new coach came in, he was released. He was not a big name anymore because of injury, and then ended up with the Chiefs on a prove it deal last year.

Yet, all that being said, he is still very much a question mark, he did not start for the Chiefs last year, except for 1 game.

If I recall correctly he had some serious speed coming out of college.

Thats all I got.

Maybe, but I think Rashad Johnson is a product of the Darren Urban hype machine. Johnson is a solid safety who had a career year during his contract year.

But, he is an AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL tackler, and has always been. He makes Deion Sanders look like Ronnie Lott.

We will see.

size / speed guy

6" tall --- ran a blazing 40 when he came out ( 4.3ish) -- and of course, the Raiders then drafted him

Tyvon Branch's niche is as a nickel safety because he is good in coverage. Seeing as the Cardinals like to play 4-5 safeties, adding Branch would be a solid move as he addresses one of our key improvement areas, covering TEs and RBs.

Branch signing means Rashad Johnson's days in Arizona are done. Branch, longer, more athletic and better in coverage.

We all knew this was pretty much coming with Rashad. Sad to see him go, if/when he does

Cards need to go get Sean Smith now unless they're counting on #28 again. Ugh

He can run. Rashad was so smart, though....I hope Branch is able to show the same mastery of the D.

Sounds expensive for a backup safety who hasn't been a starter for a few years. We might as well go sign a couple of wide receivers because we really need more of them to. Yes I'm not happy with this signing at all. Way too much money.

Excellent upgrade to Rashad if he stays healthy.

I guess. I'm assuming we're about to see some wild revisionist history. Guy is basically the defensive back version of Lorenzo Alexander. Only played 40% of the defensive snaps for KC last year and has started 6 games the last 3 seasons.

Wow. That doesn't sound like a guy that is worth going after and for that amount of dough. Hmmm, wonder what we are all missing here??
