From Somer's blog:

*OLB Chike Okeafor underwent surgery Tuesday to repair his torn bicep. That's normally a four-month injury, but Okeafor is anything but normal. He's fanatical about taking care of his body and would like to try and come back within a few weeks, if possible. Whisenhunt promised that the Cardinals would keep him on the active roster for now and evaluate the situation in the coming few weeks."

dont know if that is accurate or not -- but if it is......... that seems a little crazy

Even 4 months seems early. I thought this was more like a 6-12 month injury.

Did you copy and paste that or did you paraphrase. I only ask becuase I read it a few hours ago and I dont remember it saying that.

Linebacker Chike Okeafor underwent successful surgery Tuesday on his torn left bicep. But at this point, the Cards aren’t putting him on injured reserve yet – which would end his season. Instead, they will see where Okeafor is in a couple of weeks, since they have the roster space for now. Typically, though, the injury sidelines a player four months, coach Ken Whisenhunt said, and the Cards probably can’t afford to carry Okeafor on the roster that long.

Thats what I remember it saying.

different blogs.

I was amazed too, a few weeks is crazy talk, its not like a broken bone you can bandage up, this will limit his strength to an extreme.

You posted from Sommers Blog.

They all converge into one giant blog for me after reading them both 10 times a day. I dont remember who blogged what and when anymore.

Come on it's just a torn biceps he has another arm!

Just kidding yes I agree seems a bit optimistic to only miss a few weeks but if it works out would be great.

If he goes on IR can he still play in the first playoff game? Chike is a badass. I think he deserves a photoshop thread.

A more realistic, but still optimistic goal might be the game after the bye week -- which is now 11 1/2 weeks from now.

The problem is that you have to carry him on the roster until then, and if he cant come back, the team may have had to pass on a player earlier in the year who could have helped.

So what is the effect to the roster if we put him on the PUP instead of the IR? I don't understand things like that really--with the PUP he would come off week 6, right?

He cant go on the PUP list. Players can only be put on the PUP list before training camp starts or if they get a non football related injury.

Dr. Anquan Boldin said, "All I needed was duct tape, a hunting knife, a lighter to sanitate the knife, some thread, and the Mr. Muyagi healing palm technique." A technique that Quan himself not only mastered but took to another level. He will be good in a few days."

I heard that Chike told doctors to just Super-Glue his bicep back to the bone.

I heard he had a highly-experimental robo-arm grafted onto his body. Once the circuits fully integrate with his nerves, which will take a few weeks, he will have the strength of 11 sperm whales. The robo-arm was developed by Nobel-Award winning scientists who observed Boldin practice during training camp.

What sort of support/brace is out there that might allow him to play in 8 weeks or so? I mean, his legs are fine. I'm thinking something cast-like that would allow him to play 10-12 plays a game.

You never know.

its a muscle tear, the muscle has to contract to do anything, no brace can help that.

Chike is the man. Someone once told me tough was jogging home from getting a vasectomy (SP). What Chike plans on doing isn't too far from that.

I understand that. Just thought he could brace it up and swing it like a club at Stephen Jackson as he tries to run by. :D

nah, would hurt like hell. Unfortunatley this is an injury you cannot play with unless you are a kicker.
