Chip Hale has joined the NY Mets as 3B coach, according to an article by Greg Hansen of the Arizona Daily Star.

Hansen is evidently as big a fan of Chip in Tucson as I am in Phoenix.

Here are some of his quotes:
He was dismissed from a similar position by the D’backs a month ago when the club chose to make him the figurative scapegoat for a 70-92 season.

Didn’t take long for another organization to understand what a skilled baseball man Hale is.

Hale won the Class AAA championship as manager of the Tucson Sidewinders in 2006. he also won minor-league championships while managing Class AA El Paso and Rookie League Missoula.

The former UA infielder is a winner.
When AJ Hinch was named Manager to replace Bob Melvin, it was clear that an experienced Manager such as Hale would not be kept around.

Ironically, the Mets were considering Melvin for their Bench Coach job, but moved their existing 3B coach there instead.

I wish Chip Hale much success. His proven skill is as a Manager. I hope he gets the opportunity to use it again before too long.

Good. My Grandma could have coached Third better than Hale did.
And Chip Hale could have managed the D'backs better than Bob Melvin did.

That's what he was when they promoted him -- a Championship winning Manager. Wasted in the 3B coaching box, even when they got rid of the career .500 Manager Melvin.

That's the point.
