Chloe Kitts wins MVP of Birmingham Regional after South Carolina advances to Final Four

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Chloe Kitts added another tournament MVP to her resume after South Carolina women's basketball won the Birmingham 2 Regional.

The No. 1 seed Gamecocks beat No. 2 seed Duke 54-50 at Legacy Arena on Sunday to advance to their fifth straight NCAA tournament Final Four. Three South Carolina players made the All-Region team, and Kitts won MVP.

Kitts led the Gamecocks (34-3) with 14 points in the win against Duke, eight of them in the fourth quarter. Kitts also hit the final two free throws to seal the game and added four rebounds.

MiLaysia Fulwiley and Sania Feagin joined Kitts on the All-Region team. Feagin had 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks against Duke. Fulwiley was limited to five points Sunday, but she led the Gamecocks with 23 points, five rebounds and three assists in the Sweet 16 win over Maryland.

Kitts logged double-doubles in the previous two tournament games, including 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting and 11 rebounds in the Sweet 16 against Maryland. The junior forward has averaged 12.3 points and eight rebounds in the NCAA tournament while shooting 48.6% from the field.

Kitts was also named the SEC tournament MVP three weeks ago. She logged a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds, plus three assists, a block and steal in the 64-45 win over Texas on March 9. She averaged 16.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in the three SEC tournament games, shooting 74.2% from the field.

Kitts is averaging 10.3 points, eight rebounds and 2.1 assists this season while shooting 52.9% from the field.
