A rookie with all of the offseason post draft, including mini camps and training camp, would have a much better grasp of the offense than Orton brought in for a week. Remember, we may not get the CBA until just before pre-season games.

And still, drafting a QB has no downside. I'm not saying to draft one and NOT, say, trade for Orton. When the CBA is signed it's probably the first thing we should do. Then you could cut Hall, and demote Skelton and the rook to 2nd and 3rd string. If you DON'T draft a QB, there's a real chance we're heading into the season with Skelton, Hall and Barton. Remember, you can't sign anyone until the CBA is signed.

I don't have any idea, but can we not even trade for a player under contract without a new CBA. I understand not being able to sign free agents, that don't have a contract, but seems we could still trade for someone if they have a contract.

in some previous thread, it was stated only picks can be traded. That is all I know.

spck's 2011 offseason plan
1) Cry (a lot)
2) Take some vicodin.
3) Wait for September.
4) Repeat 1-3 and wait for 2013.

But I do like your draft guys a LOT.

Peterson's an easy fit, he's the size Whis wants in his corners and would give the team a tremendous upgrade.
If they do that I don't see them signing Asho, but that'd be pretty amazing. I don't know if they'd need a pass rush at that point, the receivers could just run until they cramp and it wouldn't matter.

I really like what I've seen from Beal so far, outside Ayers he's my favorite prospect at LBer. I've watched what little I could find on KJ Wright and I haven't been wow'd, but heck what do I know (wait, that doesn't bode well for me liking your choices...).

Moffitt's a tough guy for the line and is a solid choice. He's one of the more pro-ready coached lines in college so the game won't get too big too fast for him.

Maehl is this year's Jordy Nelson (GB).

What I like about KJ Wright is his size, ability to make plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage, and his toughness. He has only played a little inside 'backer, and wasn't athletic enough really to play outside in the SEC which is why you were probably underwhelmed. However, I think that if he is bracketed by an OLB and an WILB that he can be very successful. A total guess and projection on my part, but he seems to fill a need at SILB and has really nice physical skills.

Meahl actually reminds me a bit of TJ Houshmanzadeh, former 7th rounder.

I like everything BUT signing Asomugha.

That's not going to happen, I can guarantee that. I also don't see us signing Snelling, Jammal Brown, or Bulger if we trade for Orton. Actually scratch that, we might sign Brown, but I wouldn't like it :p

Also, DRC may have had a down year, but the year before he was only outplayed by Revis and Woodson. Too soon to give up on the guy, especially since last season he was coming back from a major knee injury.

Don't be shocked if we signed Bulger and Orton. Whis likes veteran QB's and I expect him to carry two vets along with Skelton and put Max Hall on the practice squad.

I wouldn't be shocked, but I think it's unlikely that's all.

I think Whisenhunt wouldn't mind having Skelton as the #2 since he showed that he can win a game here and there. You also have to consider that reportedly the Bidwills/Graves vetoed Whisenhunt's desire to add Bulger last offseason, so I doubt they would want to pay for him now either, especially factoring in the promise Skelton showed.

Lastly, I don't think Bulger's value is very high if you have Orton on the team. Would be an overpriced veteran who probably would contribute zero extra wins.

Unfortunately, I think Hall will still be on the roster, but as the third QB. IMO Hall has next to zero NFL potential and I'll be slightly frustrated if he makes the team. I'd love for the Cardinals to add a day three prospect like TJ Yates, some one who could develop into a heady, solid NFL backup.

I think that Bulger was nixed last year because they already paid for DA.
I also think that Michael will give Whiz more this year because who wants to live through another year like this past one. If Whiz wants Bulger and he is available then expect us to sign him.

I also doubt we get both Bulger and Orton. Let Hall and Bartel fight it out for the 3rd spot. That's if we don't draft a QB at #5.
