We've apparently reached the dregs of free agency now, because Chris Mihm is the second-ranked free agent at center, behind Dampier.

Chris Mihm
7'0", 265 pounds
#7 overall pick in 2000; Chicago traded him to Cleveland for the #8 overall, Jamal Crawford
Traded to the Celtics last season in the Ricky Davis trade
Qualifying offer--$3.95m. Danny Ainge has said that he'll match any offer.

Mihm is an athlete and a scorer, and he's young enough to improve at 24. His problem is defense, and his upside is questionable because he hasn't improved at all since he came out of college.

Mihm is athletic enough to be a lousy PF as well as a below-average center; fortunately, the Suns wouldn't use him at PF if they got him. He's a good offensive rebounder, but apparently something of a black hole on offense. Mihm did well in efficiency stats last year, but his +/- was terrible. He averaged three fouls in about 18 mpg, so he's another foul magnet.

There's no place for Mihm in the Celtics' rotation or future plans--they've got LaFrentz and Mark Blount, and two project big men in Kendrick Perkins and Al Jefferson--but the Celtics have a big budget, so they're promising to match anyway to try and squeeze value out of another team in a S&T. They could use a backup PF, and they'd probably like to dump one of their superfluous players, like Jumaine Jones. If Mihm signs for the qualifying offer, his expiring contract and Yogi Stewart's would add up to nearly $9m.

The market has bottomed out, time to buy. :D

Seriously, I don't see how anything can happen until the Q situation is resolved one way or the other.

Mihm gives us another body, I would be happy to get him, unless we had to give up a lot.

Casey, Eisley, and a second (from the fantasy trade thread) would not be too much IMO. Considering the other options will probably be undrafted FA. :(
