As the 2024-25 regular season winds down, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic hope to put the finishing touches on their MVP campaign. It'll be the second straight season where the prestigious award will be won by either player.

This time, though, Gilgeous-Alexander has a legitimate shot at capturing it. The 26-year-old headlines one of the greatest regular-season teams in NBA history. The Oklahoma City Thunder have run away with the first seed and own the best point differential.

Gilgeous-Alexander has had one of the most efficient 30-point campaigns in NBA history. It's his third season where he's averaged 30-plus points. After finishing in fifth place two years ago and being runner-up last year, right now seems like the appropriate time to take that next step and win the MVP award.

One of his supporters is a former teammate. Chris Paul told Bleacher Report he believes Gilgeous-Alexander should win the MVP award. They were teammates for the 2019-20 season when they arrived in OKC.

"Shai should be the MVP this year," Paul said. "They found a way to make everyone equal. Everyone on their team is equal. Even though he is who he is, Jalen Williams is an All-Star. Mark gives them the freedom to just come out and play."

It's always interesting to see who NBA players root for to win the MVP award. Gilgeous-Alexander has had several notable faces across the league vouch for him this season. Add his former teammate and mentor to that list.
