Anybody see this announced by Google this morning? Looks like a pretty neat little device that's pretty cheap for what it does (especially considering the 3 free months of Netflix, even for current subscribers). I tried to order one from Google and Amazon but they are both back ordered already. Best Buy still had some in stock still a few hours ago though.

I've got one on order but who knows when it will actually go through. Its a steal though if you're already a Netflix subscriber.

Looks like they've already ended the Netflix 3 free month offer after the first batch sold out. Still a really good deal IMO.

I read the same thing. Also, it does not support IOS, which I do not care about, but that may hurt them in the long run. I also read reviews on Amazon and Best Buy that says if they knew it did less than what thier PS3 did, they would have saved their money. Also, one person said it connects to your wifi, not to your divice directly, which put some stress on thier network since you are streaming through your wifi and not directly to your device.

It works with iOS, they made that very clear in the announcement. I see the wifi as a feature as running a 2 hour movie through my phone wouldn't be great for my battery. The phone is a remote, not a streaming device in this setup. Also, you can use the Chrome browser on your desktop to stream any tab you want to your TV. So anything you can see on your desktop/laptop can be put on your TV with this. From your phone, it's only Youtube, Netflix, Google Play Movies/TV and maybe Pandora right now. But I read the other day that Hulu, HBO and others are building the functionality into their apps.

You are right, I misread the iOS part. This is what the review said.

It does not support iphones, ipads, or surface rt

So they must have an iPhone4.

Android 2.3 and higher
iOS 6 and higher
Windows 7 and higher
Mac OS 10.7 and higher
Chrome OS (Chromebook Pixel, additional Chromebooks coming soon).

Most of the bad reviews are iOS related.

Although, I did not know you can stream your desktop. That would come in handy to not have to plug in my laptop directly to my TV anymore.

I prefer my Roku devices. More channels and works really well, even with weak WiFi signals.
