City of Villians recently won the award for best Multi player online game.

I still haven't gone over from City of Heroes yet, but that is because I have a hard time with the idea of playing a bad guy.

I've heard that a lot in WoW. I play on the Horde side, aka, the bad guys. I have a friend that plays on the Alliance side and said he chose that because he couldn't imagine killing the "good guys". I'm like, it's just a game! It's not like you're out killing ANYONE for real here!

Anyhow, if WoW ever gets boring, I'll look into City of Villians. I think my guild, Amicus, is also in City of Heroes, so I'm sure they'll add City of Villians before long.

I can't get over paying a monthly fee. I played CoH when it first came out and enjoyed it, but I'll be damned if I'll keep paying for a game every month. I even cancelled my XBox live subscription.

CoV looks really cool, though.

I actually felt that way at first too, but I look at it like this; I am paying for entertainment. It is common to spend at least $20+ a month at the movies, $20+ a month on rental movies either at Blockbuster, Hollywood Video or Netflix, $30 +/- a month at a casino or on powerball tickets and such... You get my point. So for us, the money we spend a month to keep playing our game of choice is for entertainment.

But, do you spend less on the other things because you're paying for the game, or is that just an additional cost. For me, it's additional. I wouldn't curb my other entertainment habits because of it--I usually played late at night.

We do spend less on other things. We both play WoW, often at the same time. At first, it was additional, but before long, we found ourselves not spending the money on other things. It's not for everyone, if you aren't willing/able to curb your other entertainment spending, then yeah, it would just be an added expense for your budget. For many of the people I know that do pay for online gaming, it quickly becomes one of their favorite entertainment events. So giving up other things just kinda seems to happen, planned or not. (Granted, it's not ALWAYS a good thing to give up other stuff! :p )

PlayNC (the guys that created City of Heroes and Villians) have a online game my friends swear by called Guild Wars that has no monthly fee. I have considered buying it, but I don't have time for two online games.

Amicus is one of the guilds in Guild Wars. I know a lot of them REALLY like that game!

City of Villains is the most boring game I have EVER played. Making a character is awesome. I was a large breasted female villain...

I bought it needing a break from WoW. I have 2 level 60's and a level 45 there (I have NO life). And I was getting tired of it. Can't wait for the new BG though.

I also bought Guild Wars, but had trouble getting into it. Beautiful graphics, but it is impossible to solo.

Have you played since they released patch 1.9? With the war effort going now, AH's in more places, and lots of other new/updated stuff, I know lots of 60's that have gotten back into playing.

I've tried, but my UI is so messed up. I downloaded the post-1.9 and it will take me half an hour to get it back to how I want it. In other words... I always find something better to do. I really miss PvP though. I think I will try to play this weekend. Just had no motivation lately. I hear the war effort is pretty cool as far as rep goes, but I did not hear about the AH's. Now I am intrigued... Maybe I will make the weekend now.

A lot of our UI's were messed up also. We uninstalled all our add ons and redownloaded them and all is well now. The war effort has been really great for rep! About AH's, I don't know if you played horde or alliance, we play horde. It's been soooo nice not having to go to Org for AH! There's one in Thunder Bluff and the Under City now too! I haven't gotten into PvP yet. Perhaps if you've had enough of a break from WoW, then it might be enjoyable again.

UI's get messed up with every patch, so expect some headaches. I play Horde exclusively... AH in major cities sound nice, although I rarely went out of ORG anyway. You WILL get into PvP. I don't think I have ever had so much fun playing a game. It is always fun to go to STV or Gadgetzan to see how many lower level guys you can kill before their lvl 60 friends show up. I hated when people ganked me, but now its payback!

That was my favorite part of CoH, too. I really can't wait for games like this to become readily available on consoles like XBox. I don't like the controls on the PC (using the mouse and keyboard).

WOW dominates.

I love killing the Horde. Ugly ugly tauren, trolls, orcs, and undead.

The Alliance on every server I have played on acts like in large part like children. That is why I gank the snot out of them.

:lmao:

That's awesome!

I miss the ambiguously gay duo. Do they still make those skits? I haven't watched SNL in a while.
