Caught the tail end of the interview--

said one interesting thing I heard-- when asked about the rationale behind moving Dansby inside--

When looking at Karlos' big plays over the last few years, almost all came when he was in a formation where he was "covered" -- i.e. d linemen shielding him from offensive linemen. Clancy beleives that on the inside, he will be protected and allow him to pursue downhill to the ball. Also give the Cards a "tall, lanky, long armed player inside to disrupt inside passing lanes". With the move, Karlos wont have to deal with being head up on a TE all the time.

Jurecki said that Adrian Wilson's opinion is that if Karlos picks up the D, this change will result in Karlos having a monster type year.

I caught it too.

Clancy talked about Chike playing olb before, he and Berry will have to work on dropping into shallow coverage, but they won't be asked to run w/ tight ends or running backs. He likes the idea of Chike and Berry and Calvin Pace coming from further off the edge this year and going up against TE's or RB's to get to the quarterback. He talked about wear and tear, and liked the idea of Berry not going straight up against tackles all the time.

He knows Branch can dominate at NT, thinks he might be athletic enough to play 3-4 end, but will see how well he can move this summer before he knows whether he'll play there.

Talked about 3-4, 4-3, and 5 man fronts, having personnel groupings to counter 2 and 3 and 4-wide formations, talked about versatility. He's focusing on hiding Wilson, getting him away from playing straight-up strong safety where offenses can locate him easily, 3 safety formations w/ Holt and Francisco deep, and Wilson somewhere in the box.

Dansby (2006) had 80 Tackles and 8 sacks. The year before he had 4 sacks, 3 INTs- two returned for TDs- and 2 forced fumbles/recoveries.*

What would a monster type year be? 160 Tackles and 16 sacks and 10 turnovers?

* I can see now why some fans like to bag on Dansby. What a slacker.

That's awesome. Finally, we're scheming to our strenghts and not trying to fit square pegs into round holes.
