His new agent says Clarett wanted to participate but the agent pulled him out saying the risk of injury made the event pointless, said Clarett is working out, in great shape, and will "blow people's minds at the combine".

Saw this yesterday, pretty insane. Kiper said today on "The Herd" that Clarett has probably fallen into Day 2 or UDFA.

The event sounds pretty lame, that story says a model who is hosting the show ran through the course in highheels, so it's not exactly challenging. But they invited Clarett as a sort of beginning of his "comeback" so they were mystified when he pulled out.

he continues to get bad advice IMHO, I can understand if there was a significant risk of injury but apparently there wasn't, all he did was miss a chance to show goodwill to NFL teams.

Maybe he is still "doughy" like scouts described last year. That much time away from contact football + PS2 and snack foods, might equate to an out-of-shape player.

I am still kind of in suspense about how he will turn out. He was fantastic his freshman year, but that is all we know about him. Pretty crazy.

If I was his agent, I'd have him working with a personal trainer every day. Stuff like this is worthless. If Clarett shows up to the combine in tip top shape he may shoot up the boards. No one cares about some silly skills contest.

That's true but the problem is he committed to be there, they advertised he would be there, and then he pulled out. Which is just another sign of his inability to meet commitments which is something NFL teams are worried about.

I agree the actual event would have done nothing to prove anything beyond does he look in shape, but to flake out on it proved once again that Clarett is unreliable.

Oh I agree that it doesn't look great that he flaked on a commitment. However I don't think it will look so bad if he uses that time to better himself. Now if he just sits around and chunks up then it will probably hurt him even more.

I suppose Clarett has already blown his chance of selling himself as a character guy. His image in that regard isn't going change either way based on him flaking out of the skills contest.

His agent says Clarett wanted to participate but the agent pulled him out. I don't see anything wrong with it.I think the agent is being overly cautios but missing the event won't hurt/help Clarett. If it was anyone else it would be a non-story.The combine will tell all we need to know about MoC.

It won't matter

If he shows up at the combine ready to go and performs great...NOBODY WILL CARE ABOUT THIS SILLY SKILLS CRAP. It was a bad move to say yes to it but I don't blame him for backing out. Heard of this guy one time who hurt himself playing this flag football game in the sand during the Pro-Bowl week and his career went bye bye. I for one would love the Cardinals to pick him up in the second round.

It's not part of the combine, so his agent took him out. No big deal. The combine is the only thing that matters
