Millwood 92, Sequoyah Claremore 44

Millwood’s first seven baskets came from six different players to quickly build a 10-point lead.

It never got any smaller.

Top-ranked Millwood rolled over fifth-ranked Sequoyah Claremore 92-44 on Friday morning in the Class 3A semifinals at State Fair Arena against the Crooked Oak-Cascia Hall winner.

The Falcons (21-5) head into Saturday’s championship game looking to extend their state records for championships and victories at the state tournament. A win in the title game, set for 10:45 a.m. Saturday, would be the program’s 18th championship and 80th overall victory.

Using its pressure defense to create easy offense, Millwood jumped to a 20-3 lead and never looked back. The Falcons were led by Johnathan Vanburen with 25 points, while Sequoyah Claremore (29-3) got 17 from Eestyn Prater.
