Apr. 24 - There is a growing doubt the Cardinals will draft Suggs with the sixth overall pick. While they didn't have problems with his 40 times a month ago, they apparently are starting to wonder now. Teams below No. 6 are planning scenarios for Suggs to fall, and that could cause some problems, especially in Baltimore.
Minnesota might take him at No. 7, because they like him better than DT Jimmy Kennedy, but the Vikings pass, Suggs could fall all the way to Baltimore at No. 10. If that happens and the Ravens take him, blame Jamir Miller. The Ravens wanted to add Miller as a linebacker-defensive end in their 3-4 defense, but he hasn't accepted their offers. If they think they have a shot at Suggs, they might hold off on further pursuit of Miller.

If we pass on Suggs if he's available at 6, the ONLY good excuse will be to sign Leftwich or take one hell of an offer to move down. If Suggs is there and we draft Trufant or K Williams I will swallow my head.

I agree totally

If we pass on Suggs and Leftwich AND don't trade down....

I will freaking scream. Drafting Trufant with Suggs and Leftwich on the board would be phuckin ********.

I am getting nervous about #6..evidence:

1. we have made no attempt to sign a punt returner or any returner (other than martay).
2. jurecki said last week cards may have trufant rated higher than suggs and newman.
3. clayton says cards are considering passing on suggs..

I know..2 and 3 are rumors..but jurecki has been mostly on target since he became a cardinals sideline reporter last season. item #1 is a fact...makes me think we are leaning towards trufant.

Suggs, leftwich or robertson I am ok with at #6...trufant would be a reach..and it is not a huge need

We can sign Bobby Wade in the 4th as a punt returner and I'm not upset with Kasper as our KR. We DO NOT need to worry about that with our first round pick. I'll admit to being very much in the Suggs camp, but I think I'm pretty fair about who we pick so long as the value warrants the #6.

If Suggs is there at #6 we have an opportunity for the most dominant defensive player in the draft. We have no pass rush. For any other organization I guess this would be a no-brainer.

I haven't had to swallow my head since the Eagles game of last year but damnit, time to start prepping . . .

repeat after me-LEFTWICH, LEFTWICH, LEFTWICH There is no reason, if they have doubts about Suggs and do not receive any legitimate trade down offers they shouldnt grab Leftwich!

The Cardinals draft board has been real

good as of late.

You could piss on our last draft class and outside of McCaddely no one would notice.

Suggs, Leftwhich and Bears, oh my

I agree. If we pass on Suggs, it better be to draft Leftwhich. (I'd say if we pass on Leftwhich it better be to draft Suggs).
(Or a great offer to trade down.. but I'd think it need be pretty great to pass on either of those two).

Either way, I haven't been impressed with any of the other guys they're looking at...

So you think no one except McAddley is going to be worth a damn.Mr Negative.
Wendell Bryant DT
Levar Fisher LB
Josh McCown QB
Dennis Johnson DE
Nate Dwyer DT
Jason McAddley WR
Josh Scobey RB
Mike Banks TE

How about giving the guys a chance.Judging them after 1 season is stupid and premature.

Hmm...

Sorry but Bryant hasn't shown me shat and Levar Fisher could be a player in the right scheme...unfortunately we don't run that scheme.

Johnson has great potential...

McClown could have been cut in training camp.

Dwyer? Another slow DT...whoo hoo!!

Scobey? Won't be on the roster this year.

Banks...Ditto

This draft class last year was filled with all potential and little impact. I like about half the guys we drafted. I wouldn't say that is being Mr. Negative...that is being Mr. Realistic.

I was agreeing to the fact that if the Cardinals have soured on Suggs, Leftwich must be drafted. I've never been a "Leftwich hater", just a Suggs advocate. Anything negative I've said about Leftwich has been silly propoganda, or an attempt to make Suggs look better.

If Trufant is really #1 on the McGraves radar, we must band together in mind to sway the Karma away from such folly!

I thin the reality of the draft might be starting to hit the Cards or the fact they have 'doubts' about Suggs is just a smokescreen. They may be positioning themselves for a possible trade down.-Which I have no problem with as long as they dont move completly out of the first round-meaning stay within the top 20 so they can still get a couple of solid picks.

However, it would be nice-for once- for the Cards to go out on a limb and grab a guy like Leftwich that, I truly believe, could very well be the start of turning this entire franchise around. I know people think I am over excited about this guy but its hard for me to see where drafting him would be a 'mistake'.

He will not be starting this year-or even next perhaps- (ala Pennington) but will have time to work the system and know it like the back of his hand. And very well could turn out to be, as Tango would so eliquently put it-our Prince Valiant!:p

Repeat after me:

No, No, No, to Leftwich

The Cards have tooooo many needs to sign a QB with the 6th pick when we've already got a starting QB signed and a potential starter backing him up.

Can we all say:

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE

Suggs will be the pick at #6.

I would have to agree with you to a point, but if there's something that the Cards know that we don't, we have to go Leftwich! Poop on trading down!

In my opinion, if the Cards did take Lefty, they would have to go Offense for most of the draft. There can be no in-between for the Cards, either stock the "O" or the "D"...

Look to the future grasshopper!

Yes this team has many holes-including QB. Blake is not the long term answer to this team at QB-you know that and so does everyone else. This team will not-I repeat will not- be a contender this year as the roster sits now.

Why not grab Leftwich and have this reoccuring QB problem disappear? There is no need to take another McCown-a project-go after the real deal, a franchise QB that can take this team put them on his shoulders and make Sundays exciting again!

Defense can be hand through the draft still in rounds 2-7 and further more after june 1st cuts and via trades, but no one, i repeat non one is going to trade a franchise QB once he establishes himself in this league!. Your gonna have to draft one and outside of Michael Vick, this is the most excited I have been about a QB in 10 years!

It's McClown...get it right. If you think I am lying...go up to Flagstaff this year and watch him in training camp.

that's the problem with what we've been doing in our general plan - Load up on D and the O wil come around or Load up O and it will carry the defense - good teams win with BALANCE! Let's find some kind of balance, because this team sure as hell hasn't shown that it CAN put one elite side of the ball on the field. That being said draft Leftwhich, sign Robinson and draft Defense the rest of the draft.
