CLEMSON, S.C. - The athletic department announced Tuesday that Clemson University will no longer be a dry campus during athletic sporting events. The sale of alcoholic beverages will begin on April 5 during the annual Orange and White spring game at Memorial Stadium. Fans can purchase adult beverages at designated concession stands and kiosks. On April 7, sales at McWharter Stadium (softball) and Doug Kingsmore Stadium (baseball) will begin.

As part of the rollout plan for the new alcohol policy, Clemson University published the following statement:

"We are excited to continue to expand concessions offerings and roll out this important change to our gameday experience, and we want to be thoughtful in doing so,” said Director of Athletics Graham Neff.

“We have appreciated the support from several key groups to begin a safe implementation that is both fan-friendly and family-friendly. We will continue to evaluate the impacts and adapt our offerings and policies to meet the needs of our fans.”

Clemson was one of three (BYU and Baylor) universities in the Power Four conferences that abstained from alcohol sales and sponsorship revenue from advertisers. Opening up the school's athletic events to alcohol sales creates a new revenue stream for the athletic department. According to an article published by ESPN in 2023, the University of North Carolina sold $4 Million in alcohol sales in its first five years and, on average, sold $175,293 worth per game.
