Abrams recently spoke with SCI FI Wire about Cloverfield 2.

"We're talking about it, but the truth is there's another idea that I'd rather do with the same people than do a sequel. It's a whole new thing."

Abrams added, "So my dream is to work with [Goddard and Reeves] again, but do something that's [new]. Having said that, Drew and Matt both, separately, have really good ideas for what [Cloverfield 2] could be. So I don't know. We'll see. I know the studio wants it."

It's refreshing that Abrams is already coming up with something different to work on with the same guys, but it's obvious the studio will push for a sequel based on box office and DVD sales.

Famous last words. Studio will force producer/director into a sequel they're not sure about, then bury the producer/director in bad hype when the sequel flops. JJ better watch it. Lost won't run forever. It won't take much to take the shine off the golden boy.
