haven't been following much nba on tv, but 76ers may push collins out. I've always like him coaching, then commentating, and now coaching again.

Doug Collins is a good coach for a young team full of unmotivated knuckleheads but usually after 3 years or so he wears out his welcome with his task-master like ways.

That being said, he'd be a perfect fit for the Suns as they move forward for the new few years and young guys need to be taught discipline, work ethic, how to succeed in the NBA, etc.

Collins is like a rich man's Scott Skiles, big on accountability and fundamentals, would be a good choice next year with a (hopefully) much younger roster.

Maybe I'm mistaken on this but I always thought that not only did Collins wear thin on his players after a few years but he tended to burn himself out too. I'd look for him more as a consultant or something other than the actual Head Coach.

That sounds more like Larry Brown.

I feel like Collins either wears out his welcome with the players or fails to get his team over the hump. But I totally forgot he ever coached the Wiz so I might have him pegged wrong.

Again, I could be wrong but I think you have them reversed. Brown has indeed worn out his welcome but more often than not has jumped from one job immediately to the next whereas Collins almost always had a long break in between places. Of course, that might be a lack of opportunity rather than a choice but I seem to remember him talking about being burned out a few times. Anyway, I'd still rather see him as a consultant or sort of a Cotton-like coach trainer.

I believe Collins lives in the Valley of the Sun.
