The Cubs officially announced Friday their acquisition of four-time All-Star left-hander Cole Hamels from the Rangers — with a few twists. The Cubs will receive a cash consideration with Hamels in exchange for pitcher Eddie Butler, minor-league pitcher Rollie Lacy and a player to be named. Hamels is owed at least $14.1 million on his contract, and Jon Heyman of FanCred reported the Cubs will pay $5 million. Hamels is 5-9 with a 4.72 ERA in 20 starts with the Rangers and has struck out 114 in 114 1/3 innings. His 2.93 road ERA is the 12th-lowest in baseball.
