The Washington Commanders continue to receive a lot of praise across the NFL for their aggressive start to the offseason. Washington general manager Adam Peters traded for five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil and former Pro Bowl wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

It's the type of "all-in" move teams make to take advantage of a quarterback on a rookie contract. Quarterback Jayden Daniels wasn't just an impressive rookie in 2024 but one of the NFL's top signal-callers. In an effort to return to the NFC championship game and beyond, Peters is giving Daniels plenty of help.

Colin Cowherd is among those who have liked Washington's moves so far this offseason. In his post-free agency power rankings, Cowherd has the Commanders inside his top 10.

"The Commanders, their O-Line last season, was 10, they added Laremy Tunsil, a top-3 pass blocker," Cowherd said. "Deebo Samuel is one of the great moves of free agency—the classic chess piece. So, this is a team that could get four to five starters out of the draft, got two absolute starters in free agency. And again, Jayden Daniels, as a rookie, was amazing. Another offseason to learn (offensive coordinator) Kliff's (Kingsbury) offense, I have them at eight."

Washington had a top-five offense last season and, with the additions of Tunsil and Samuel, should be even better. That's not even considering the improvements Daniels, who should be even better.

But what about the defense? The Commanders have added players from the outside but have yet to address their biggest positional need: an edge rusher. There's still plenty of time, as the 2025 NFL draft is next month.
