The third tier of March postseason basketball is here and your Colorado Buffaloes will be a part of it.

Backed by Fox Sports, the College Basketball Crown is a new postseason tournament in Las Vegas that hopes to rival the NIT. It gives teams that didn't make the NCAA Tournament another avenue to continue their season and win a title. It is theoretically the third level of postseason events, but with the NIT struggling to attract the best of the rest, it could be on a level playing field with the NIT as soon as this year.

The 16-team tournament features guaranteed selections from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East. Other conferences that have teams participating are the West Coast Conference, Mountain West, Atlantic-10, and American Athletic Conference.

The games won't begin for two weeks, but they will be a sprint to the finish line, with all the games happening within a week. The title game will tip off a day before the national championship, right in the middle of the Final Four. Here is everything you need to know about the first-ever College Basketball Crown.
