Former Greenville Lion Kamron Neal ran a blazing time of 20.27 seconds to win the men’s 200-meter dash at the West Texas Relays.

Neal, a sophomore at Panhandle State in Oklahoma, won by more than four-tenths of a second.

“He slowed down well before the line and wasn’t really challenged, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him run sub-20.00 this year, which is world-class,” said Panhandle coach Cyrus Hall. “He also qualified for nationals in that event.”

The aiding wind was recorded at 3.1 meters per second, just above the 2.0 standard for record purposes but it still should rank Neal first in the NAIA for this season.

Neal, who was coming off an illness, ran a 50.11 to place eighth in the 400-meter dash and ran a leg on the Aggies’ 4x100 relay that was fourth in 41.40.

Neal recently finished second in the 200 at the NAIA indoor national championships with a time of 20.70 and was third in the outdoor national meet last spring.
