Although the national title game is still to be played, the unnecessarily hectic college basketball schedule means the transfer portal is open and in full swing.

The 2025 window opened on March 24, following the second round of the NCAA tournament. It will stay open until April 22, with players having until that date to enter the portal. Once you enter, you can commit at any time.

Colorado has significant needs to address this transfer cycle after finishing last in the Big 12. Point guard Julian Hammond III is graduating, and so are starters Andrej Jakimovski and Trevor Baskin. Starting spots at point guard and both forward positions seem up for grabs.

The program has not been hyperfocused on any specific players yet, as their season ended less than a week ago, but head coach Tad Boyle knows his squad needs multiple difference-makers.

With several Colorado players already in the portal and likely commitments imminent, here is an up-to-date tracker of the program's finalized transfer activity.

(Last update: April 6, 1 p.m. MT)

OUT: Sophomore guard RJ Smith

2024-25 Stats: 34 games, 21.8 minutes, 6.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, 44.8% shooting from the field, 38.6% from 3-point range

The fifth departure for the Buffs and by far the most surprising. With Hammond graduating and Javon Ruffin also in the portal, Smith seemed set to have an increased role next season. However, after playing in one season in his three years in Boulder, he may be ready for a fresh start.

OUT: Sophomore forward Assane Diop

2024-25 Stats: 35 games, 15.2 minutes, 3.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 38.9% shooting.

Diop was probably the likelist portal entrant if you were to pick a player when the year ended. However, it is surprising that he is the third player to depart. The Senegal native started 17 games this past season, but the production never came with the increased playing time. He should be able to succeed at a mid-major program.

OUT: Junior guard Javon Ruffin

2024-25 Stats: 33 games, 20.3 minutes, 5.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 37.1% shooting, 31.5% from 3.

Ruffin entering the portal was not as surprising as Diop, as the guard has struggled with his health during his time in Colorado. He played mainly off the bench this year and did not feel like a part of next year's plan.

OUT: Sophomore guard Harrison Carrington

2024-25 Stats: 30 games, 9.0 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.2 rebounds, 60.9% shooting, 33.3% from 3.

Carrington earned a full scholarship in September 2024 and became a key bench contributor this year. The 6-foot-7 forward should be a viable addition for a non-Power 4 program. He and the next departure on this list were not surprises for Boyle and company.

OUT: Freshman guard Courtney Anderson Jr.

2024-25 Stats: 4 games, 3.8 minutes, 0.5 points, 25% shooting

Anderson entered the portal after just one season with the Buffaloes. The former 4-star recruit never seemed to carve out a role for himself. His roster spot will likely be filled with one of the five incoming freshmen.
