They may regret pinch hitting Martinez. Blanco isn't hitting well at all.

Why oh why can't a base runner on second see that a deep fly ball is going to be cought and not tag up. The Diamondbacks do this consistently. Hazzelbaker should be on third

Barrett lost this game for them. Bullpen is losing these games for the dbacks.

Or, TL is not putting in the right pitchers.

I would say there is a very good chance that any or all of Pollock, Peralta, Drury and Lamb will be gone next season... and let's not even start on the bullpen... What a waste of a solid performance from Greinke!

I have never understood on deep fly balls or when a fielder has to make a running catch, on a deep fly ball, the man on second doesn't tag up. They all go half way, watching the fielder, knowing that he will make the catch, but don't get back to the bag to tag up..

Who is this Lamb person you speak of? I haven't seen him since the ASG.

Bullpen is frustrating and TL made some dumb moves, but we lost this game because Peralta, Lamb and Goldy did nothing. That aint gonna fly in the playoffs, if we make it.

We definitely got out managed in this game.. Especially with Barrett pitching. You walk Cargo to get to Arrenado come on and you don't bring in Bradley

Barrett just hasn't been good at all the last 4 or 5 times he's been up. Wouldn't you think that maybe after 3rd straight bad game, not to put him in anymore.

Last time he had a good game was when we blistered SF and he was pitching with an 11-run lead. Barrett's control and decision making is awful. Not much better than Bracho.

I'm getting very worried about this team again. I feel the same malaise I did during the July funk.

I dont think we will get swept tho. Lets see how the next 3 games play out.

The series against the Padres was unfortunate, but we need to just focus on this series for what it is. Two division rivals fighting for their postseason lives! I think we'll split, and I think that's good enough. :)

Aside from Corbin's meltdown on Saturday, our starting pitching remains on point. Our pen and our offense (aside from JD of course), are trending in a very troubling direction...
I'm at the point where, while it would suck to not make the post season and/or go one & done - I can find peace with the whole of the season as I honestly didn't think we'd be playing meaningful Sept baseball...
The team has made strides but still possesses more than a few serious holes. Win or lose, I will enjoy the rest of this roller coaster ride of a season, and then hope Hazen and his staff can do what is needed to fill some of the gaping holes... [emoji106]

A runner goes half way on a deep fly ball when they're on 2B because the value of the potential run on an error is worth more than the extra base on the catch.

I didn't see the game, so I don't know how many outs there were, but a runner might tag with no outs as opposed to one out.

It's always easy to review in 20/20 hindsight, however, we likely would've tied up the game had Hazelbaker tagged up. Regardless of any other method to look at that situation, tagging up was absolutely the right call. He would've made it standing up. And there was only 1 out. Iannetta then flied out to right, deep enough to have easily scored Hazelbaker from third...
Along with Tory's early yank of Greinke, and then somehow seeing it more appropriate to have Barrett pitch not only to CarGo but then Arrenado when we only needed one more out to get out of the inning - instead of bringing in MacFarland to pitch to Cargo, it was an horrendous night in the way of decision-making... Not to mention the suckiness of our offense.

But he didn't pitch to Cargo, he pitched around him to get to Arrenado?!?!?!

What kind of idiot pitches around Cargo who has struggled all year to get to the guy leading the league in RBIs?

Yep. He walked CarGo... The problem of course, stems from Tory - for some unknown reason, thought it would be better to have Barrett, a righty, pitch around CarGo instead of bringing in MacFarland, a lefty... Arrenado should've never even had an at-bat that inning...:mad::mad:
