Updating previous reports, despite the fact he is reportedly in contract discussions with the New England Patriots, the Detroit Lions reportedly believe they are the closest to signing free agent LB Rosevelt Colvin (Bears). A decision from Colvin and agent Kennard McGuire is expected within the next two days, according to John Mullin of the Chicago Tribune.

Not so fast...

It appears we could still be the frontrunner for Colvin's services...according to Graves he is very optimistic about signing Colvin........also there is this update...
Lions | Singleton Their Main Target At Linebacker? - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
5:49 PT: Tom Kowalski reports for mlive.com the Detroit Lions may now be targeting free agent Al Singleton (Bucs) as their main free agent target at linebacker. Singleton reportedly replaces free agent LB Rosevelt Colvin (Bears) as the No. 1 linebacker on Detroit's list. The two reasons are: Singleton will come at a cheaper price and the Lions believe Singleton could be a better fit for the defense than Colvin.
Signing Colvin would be a huge boost for this organization and us Cards fans....please get it done

I agree...Would be a big boost.

However, I disagree....

I don't believe Graves. Their have been reports that Colvin was very impressed with the Pats last night and they were putting together a proposal. (I wonder why it doesn't take the Pats 48 hours to come up with a contract? You mean you can start negotiating right away? Hmmmm, me thinks the Pats really want him. I am sure Colvin feels the love in NE.)

It continues to surprise me how some of you automatically believe every rumor from out of town but won't accept anything Rod Graves says as being true.

I won't believe anything until it happens but...

Why would Graves stick his neck out and say he's optimistic about Colvin if that was not the case. If anything Graves has been cautious about any news on FA's....I would tend to think there is something to this....but again..This is the Cards...and I won't believe anything until it happens...

Some of you can beleaguer and badmouth Graves all you want, but so far the one thing he HAS proven is that he seems to tell things like they are. He may not always go into the minutest of details but what he does say is not just BS.

Historically I was not a big fan of his, but in objectively observing what's going on since his promotion I have been impressed.
As far as patience is concerned, the only thing that's actually going to prove anything, one way or the other to me, is what next seasons's win/loss record is.

In the meantime all the unemployed boxboys can cry all they want about what an idiot he is.......doesn't really mean anything in the long run.
