According to Jurecki, the Pats gave Colvin 7mil upfront. The Cards offered close to 10 mil upfront . Man, three million dollars wasn't enough to make the guy pick us over NE? Bummer.

Thats why I say there was absoluely no reason for the guy to even come here. he was just plain and simply jerking our chain especially if he knew that he had zero desire to play on the west coast! SCREW HIM!

I actually respect him, the money wasn't important to him. He came here and checked us out and then said "no thanks". How did he jerk anyone's chain? Every free agent should visit every interested team before making a decision.

I wonder what his better half thinks about of giving up 3 million dollars?

I disagree the guy made it clear that the reason he made his decision was that he did want to play on the west coast.
You dont think he knew this before he started making his rounds? Im sure he did. So IMO he had zero interest to begin with and was just using us as a bargaining chip which is the status quo nowadays!
Why should I respect him for that??

Let me put it this way.....
I'm applying for grad schools right now, some of which are in areas I'd never want to live.
When they call me and offer me a bunch of cash to come there and offer to fly me out there to visit, I go. Just to be fair to myself.
Just because you think you don't want to be somewhere doesn't mean that there's no possibility that you could get there and see something that would change your mind. Even if it's a 1% chance.

Oh the guy chose to take ONLY (Sarcastic) 7 million as compared to 10 million up front. Hes a saint I dunno how he can afford to feed his family now? Sorry I just dont see anything admirable about it.

$7,000,000 is still an astronomical sum, maybe colvin's mindset was "I'm just as rich with $7 mil as I am with 10, so i might as well live where i'd rather live".

Not really heck after taxes he might only get 4.2 million. I feel for him!

I'm with you Ed. It's hard to knock him for what he did. If I had known about the offers 24hrs ago, I'd have bet a wad of cash that he's sign here for that much more money. Just goes to show what an uphill fight it is for us in free agency.
